Fast forward to present day and when I look at the @unmc patent portfolio, between 60-75% of our issued patents are licensed each year. Credit to the Bayh-Dole Act for its significant impact on our economy.
Before Bayh-Dole, the federal government had accumulated 28,000 patents, yet fewer than 5% were licensed. Congress created a better path in 1980—empowering universities and small businesses to help move federally funded inventions toward the marketplace. buff.ly/3RoXCwe
