does anyone in nyc have a hammock I can borrow for a night? can make you a #pixelart of where it ends up in exchange!
maybe I sound like a mantis, but I think it's really cool that on rare warm nights in SF we finally get the song of crickets and katydids and you can actually find them by following 🎶 and staring very intently at leaves
one of the greatest joys in life is to observe infrastructure and the guts of things. to climb into the City Hall dome and see it's held up with horse hair and plaster. to see a fresh-lathed MUNI wheel. to put on a hazmat suit and watch rocks turn into computers. it's tricky tho
there's something called Open House New York that opens 300 tours to the public for one weekend and I'd love to see how it's run! does anyone have a place in NY that @fulligin and I can stay for a week mid-October?
we arrange tours chronically and I think we can bring this to SF
I love SFO because you can go up to the info desk guy as a group of 20 strangers and ask, "can you pick a name out of this hat? we're going to send that person on a surprise trip" they're always like "ok!"
(this is flight roulette and we're hosting it again tmrw)
if you'd like to sponsor such a thing (purchasing the flight + lodging) we are VERY open to this, you can DM me
flightroulette.org if you want to know when they’re happening (usually spontaneously twice per year)
a true teal flower in nature is rare. this is the Sapphire Tower / blue puya from Chile and it’s in bloom right now in SF in a hidden spot. I’m hosting a private tour bc I can’t share the location online & it’s also slightly dangerous, so we must treat this like a rare Pokémon
docent-led rare teal flower tour is from 6:00-6:15 pm friday partiful.com/e/WX4tOhxiNJ6FZ…
i want to find a $10k shadowy patron for some public art in san francisco that 2,000–5,000 people will get to experience. reply if this seems fun
This is Flight Roulette. 20 people show up to SFO with packed suitcases, the info desk guy picks a name out of a hat, then we send them on a surprise trip designed by everyone else (thoughtfully) on the spot. We're doing it again on May 29th ✈️
You can apply to join Flight Roulette before 5/24 at 11:59pm. Preference to those who have never solo traveled just for fun before, or haven't in a while!

I made Vaillancourt font from angles and textures of the actual fountain, captured with photogrammetry.

I got this 1998 iMac G3 on Craigslist and wanted to use it as a monitor, but you can't do that. You can only give it software. So I made a version of my tarot app specifically for Mac OS 8.5, written in C with .pict files. Every time I want to use it, I take the train downtown
If you want to play with the iMac, it's at TIAT in SF where I can arrange a visit either today or Friday. Possibly at 5:30pm. DM me or reply! I have other fun software for it too, including 90s horror games and a demo CD of virtual worlds (like The Palace and AlphaWorld) + AOL
Thankful for the retro Mac OS nerds out there who have helpful forums. I used the Retro68 compiler and @edwardmendelson's SheepSaver wrapper as an emulator on my modern macbook to build this. Emulation wasn't perfect though, so every time I needed to test it I burned a new CD
