Anyone else grow up listening to Classical?
One of Mozart's only two symphonies written in a minor key (G minor)βbringing a deeply emotional, urgent, and dramatic resonance that contrasts with his usual classical lightness.
In this stunning violin cover by David Bay Music, classical elegance meets modern energy against a breathtaking backdrop of snowy mountains. π»βοΈ
This is a very interesting (and likely controversial) paper about very early human emergence, and why chimps are our "closest" living relatives.
Happy to see my work with Regev Schweiger @Regevschweiger and Richard Durbin @richard_durbin now published in Genetics! Link to paper: academic.oup.com/genetics/ad⦠(open access). A thread on the main ideas....1/n
Visceral fat cells accumulate many toxins including PCBs, many pesticides, many heavy metals including mercury, arsenic and lead - so finding a way to permanently eliminate them is good news.
An experimental drug can get rid of a dangerous type of fat around organs. The compound may prevent health problems and help people resist regaining weight after stopping weight loss drugs. sciencenews.org/article/expeβ¦
Disclosure, disinformation or disbelief?
One of the distinguished guests I met two days ago told me that he recently heard from an official at the highest level in the Pentagon that the U.S. is in possession of alien technology and related biological material. Access to such materials will save time over the interpretation of fuzzy PURSUE videos.
Late H. erectus - endocranial capacity of 1000-1250 cc overlaps lower modern range - just over 100 kya. These basal hominins were (probably) widepread in SE Asia, and beyond, and likely had rudimentary maritime skills.

Are we being watched?
Steve Bruehl and I had lots of fun discussing the latest VASCO results with Gadi Schwartz on NBC News last night! We talked about:
- The sizes, properties and possible altitudes of the transients.
- What happens if we assume that the transients are caused by objects at geosynchronous distances and project their lines of sight back onto the Earthβs surface?
Intriguingly, we find hotspots around White Sands, Sedona and Tampico, as well as several locations in the Pacific Ocean west of Mexico and California. And perhaps most intriguingly: what happens around nuclear tests?
If we look within Β±1 day of a nuclear test, something interesting appears. Around dates when nuclear weapons were tested over the Pacific Ocean, the transients cluster over the Pacific. Around dates when nuclear weapons were tested in the Nevada area, the transients instead cluster over the southwestern United States.
So the correlation with nuclear tests may not only be temporal. It appears to have a geographical component as well.
Enjoy! π
