Gravity is not an invisible force pulling objects across empty space.
In General Relativity, mass tells spacetime how to curve, and curved spacetime tells mass how to move.
The Sun’s 1.989 × 10³⁰ kg mass depresses four-dimensional spacetime into a deep gravitational throat. Earth and Jupiter are simply traveling along straight inertial paths called geodesics (d²xᵘ/dτ² + Γᵘₐᵦ uᵅuᵝ = 0) through the warped geometry of the universe.
