๐ง What does the future hold for our upland farming communities? In this @BBCSounds series, farmer and writer James Rebanks visits the communities around Muker and Keld where generations of hill farmers have shaped the Dales landscape we know today.

I worked recently wth a radio producer called Michael Umney on a radio programme about three villages in England.
He recorded people talking about their lives. The first episode is about Muker in Swaledale and starts at 11am on @BBCRadio4.
It may mention sheep.

Wow! Just when you think you can not admire Sir Kev any more, he does this, 4 ultra marathons down, fifth day and then destroys this hill near Marsden Golf club, keep watching

One of the main childrenโs publishing challenges I mentioned is the pushing of celebrity written books on young readers. Being famous first matters far too much.

This should be on the national news. Why isn't it? There was a time a missing 13 yr old girl's face would be everywhere!!
These are the details issued by police, I've linked it at the end of the post too:
"Lillia left her home address in Bolton at approximately 20:00 hours on Friday 11th September 2026 and after failing to return home was reported missing by her family.
Lillia has been identified on CCTV in the Piccadilly Gardens area of Manchester City Centre and the Trafford Centre on Saturday 12th September 2026.
Lillia is a white 13-year-old female with long light brown hair worn in a low ponytail. She wears clear frame glasses. She was last seen wearing dark wide leg trousers, black hooded zip front jacket and carrying a black Nike rucksack".
Please share. It takes two seconds to repost and try to get Lillia's face seen. It feels like every day, every hour, we're seeing stories like this about our kids and as a mum it's heartbreaking.
What has this country become?
If you've seen her or have any information, contact Greater Manchester Police:

Please learn to recognise the signs. There have been huge leaps in sepsis awareness but it never hurts to be alert. Almost 9 years since it changed our lives forever - donโt let it change yours. #doosleaday #sepsisawareness #worldsepsisday

If Gove & Gibb did so well why, with the vast spending on phonics programmes, has reading not leapt ahead? Why do so many still enter secondary below expected level? Why a major problem with comprehension v word decoding? Why do English children dislike reading more than others?
