President Dallin H. Oaks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints delivered a landmark address on religious freedom on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Washington National Cathedral, pointing to the United States Constitution as a key tool for peacemaking and finding common ground.
“The Constitution compels a divided people to build coalitions to allow them to act together,” said President @OaksDallinH, who has spent seven decades studying the Constitution as a scholar, jurist and religious leader. President Oaks is the first President of the Church to speak at the Cathedral.

We had a heavenly experience this week on the border of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, meeting with 114 faithful missionaries from Haiti.
Missionaries in Haiti have not had the opportunity to meet with a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for many years—certainly more than a decade.
It was my sacred privilege to personally convey the love, gratitude, and admiration of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for these amazing disciples of Jesus Christ.
Their devotion to the Savior and His work is inspiring to witness.

The event, titled “Faith, Freedom and the Common Good,” will explore the relationship between religious faith and American democracy. President @OaksDallinH will speak on faith, religious liberty and the United States Constitution on the eve of Constitution Day.
The free event begins at 6 p.m. EDT in the cathedral’s nave and will be available online via livestream.

Today, September 1, is the 125th anniversary of the dedication of country of Japan for the preaching of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
This weekend, I was grateful to speak at a special nationwide broadcast from a meetinghouse in Yokohama, Japan near the site where the dedication occurred.
The message I shared at the broadcast is the same message that has been preached to millions of people across the globe—that Jesus Christ loves you and what He did through His Atonement is for you, a beloved child of your Heavenly Father.

The Living Christ: Of the many significant names of the Savior, I am so inspired by the title “the Living Christ.” As one of the “special witnesses of the name of Christ in all the world” (Doctrine and Covenants 107:23) it is a special privilege for me to bear my testimony of the Savior for the first time here in Ghana as an Apostle of Jesus Christ.

Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the Cleveland Ohio Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sunday, August 16, 2026,
“A temple is a point of intersection between heaven and earth,” Elder @BednarDavidA said following the single dedicatory session on Sunday morning, which was broadcast to Church meetinghouses throughout the temple district and rebroadcast later in the afternoon.
“I cannot imagine a more important blessing than having greater access to the power of godliness through the ordinances of the temple,” he said, noting the significant sacrifices Latter-day Saints in many parts of the world and in the Church’s history have made to attend the temple at least once in their lifetimes.
Whenever a temple is nearby, “we have to be intentional and not let the ease of proximity become a barrier to receiving the blessings that we need in our lives,” he said.

As we bear and proclaim the name and Atonement of Jesus Christ in all the world, it is important for each of us to remember that we are called first to teach, testify, and convert all to the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer.
Conversion to the restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints follows naturally from that. The proper order of conversion is vital.
Today in Brazil we rejoiced to join with many of these converted disciples of Jesus Christ as we gathered for the dedication of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple—the country’s 12th operating temple.
Temples are essential to our Heavenly Father’s plan for His children. In these houses of the Lord we are taught the most important things we can learn and do in mortality and in the life that follows.
I pray that those who worthily serve in this temple and temples around the world will participate with joy and be enlightened and guided by all that is said and done in the house of the Lord.
