What happens to the patient when the pilot funding ends?
That's the question behind scaling African healthtech: a promising service needs a sustainable way to keep reaching the people who depend on it.
The i3 Program (@i3africa), backed by @gatesfoundation, MSD, @sanofi and @Boehringer, connects African healthtech startups to industry through commercial partnerships, like an MSD-backed cervical cancer pharmacy deal and a malaria diagnostics partnership with Nigeria's malaria programme.
At #AHTSat5, i3 brings this to "Building the Sustainable Healthtech Partnerships African Patients Need."

Financing decides what gets built. Investment decides what scales. Enterprise decides what survives contact with the market. Most rooms only ever host one of those conversations.
At #AHTSat5, Health Financing, Investment & Enterprise brings all three into the same room - through the people who've spent their careers making each one work.
Leading the conversation:
• @kojere - CEO, Aderemi Adeseun Advisory
• @docthakker - CEO, @AfricaHealthBiz
• @DrErickRutto - President, @kenya_chamber
• Robin A. Miller - Founding Partner, @AxumEarth
• Tosin Oshinubi - Managing Director, @SalientAdvisory
• @wilfrednjagi - CEO, @VillgroAfrica
An advisor who structures the deals. A CEO who's built the business case for health as infrastructure. A chamber president who moves trade policy. A fund partner deciding what gets backed. A consultant translating intent into capital deployed. An enterprise-builder scaling what works.
If your deal, your fund or your enterprise needs one of these rooms to move forward, this is it. Bring the case you're ready to make.

Today, the 13th East African Health Federation (EAHF) Conference and International Health Exhibition officially opened at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum, in the presence of H.E. Temesgen Tiruneh, Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
The conference brings together Ministers and State Ministers of Health, health sector leaders, professionals, partners, and private sector actors from across the region and beyond. It is an opportunity to share experiences, learn from one another, strengthen partnerships, and explore collective solutions to the health challenges we face.
Ethiopia remains committed to advancing its health reform agenda, with a focus on building a stronger, more resilient and sustainable health system, anchored in quality primary health care and supported by a capable health workforce, sustainable health financing, digital transformation, and stronger local production and supply systems.
Delivering this agenda requires all of us to work together. Government, health institutions, development and implementing partners, academia, professional associations, and the private sector each have an important role to play. In particular, the private health sector brings valuable capacity in innovation, technology, and investment.
I look forward to the conversations, partnerships, and practical ideas that will emerge from this conference as we work together towards stronger, more resilient health systems across our region.
My sincere appreciation to H.E. Temesgen Tiruneh for joining us as Guest of Honour and delivering the opening remarks, and to all our partners and participants for being part of this important gathering.

Africa’s population is expected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050, making the demand for improved healthcare services, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals and digital health bigger than ever.
This growing demand is expected to drive rapid expansion across the region, with East Africa's healthcare market projected to grow from approximately $8 billion to $15 billion over the decade, according to the World Health Expo (@worldhealthexpo).
At the heart of this growth is Kenya, home to a pharmaceutical market valued at approximately $1.2 billion annually and one of East Africa's leading pharmaceutical manufacturing and export hubs.
Recognized as one of the region's leading pharmaceutical producers and among the top exporters on the continent, Kenya continues to attract investment through a range of fiscal incentives.
As the region scales to meet rising healthcare demand, the health sector presents significant opportunities for investment and public-private collaboration with demand for resilient healthcare systems, digital health solutions, and sustainable healthcare financing increases.
The #AmChamSummit will highlight the investment opportunities driving its next phase of growth.

In Accra, I met with H.E. Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan (@SuluhuSamia), President of the United Republic of Tanzania and @_AfricanUnion Champion for Maternal and Child Health.
We agreed on an urgent priority: accelerating action to end preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths by 2030.
This means strengthening primary healthcare, investing more domestic resources in health, supporting our health workers, and using data and digital tools to reach women and children wherever they are.
Africa has made the commitments. We must now turn them into results, country by country and community by community.
Every woman should be able to give birth safely. Every newborn and every child should have the chance to survive and thrive.
----
