SG-1 did a few horror episodes and Legacy is one of them. I hated it. Daniel's back from PY3-948 seeing dead Goa'uld, so it's schizophrenia and a padded cell. Then Teal'c collapses and it's "they seem to be unrelated". Remember this?
"Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

Sir Patrick Stewart, 1940 to 2026
john carpenter said the blood test is the reason he made the thing (1982). it's from the 1938 story, and the 1951 film left it out
the 2011 prequel's answer was a torch and a dental check, because the thing can't copy fillings
original or prequel, which test is scarier?
clips: the thing (1982) from universal pictures' official blood test upload, the thing (2011) from movieclips' official "let's see your teeth" clip
carpenter said it to the guardian in 2024 (also in syfy wire). the story is who goes there? by john w. campbell. eric christian olsen, who plays adam, called the teeth scene "a nice homage to the original blood testing scene" (dread central, 2011)
the terminator came out 42 years ago today
genisys (2015) remade the griffith observatory arrival almost shot for shot. the observatory was a set in new orleans and young arnold is mostly a digital double
original or remake, which holds up better?
clips: the terminator (1984) from joblo's clip upload, terminator genisys (2015) from paramount pictures international's official clip
young arnold was built by MPC from the 1984 film, a 1984 head cast and pumping iron, with bodybuilder brett azar standing in on set (fxguide, hollywood reporter, EW). the observatory scene was shot on a partial set in new orleans, mostly bluescreen (fxguide)
Alien cost $11 million in 1979. Its monster was Bolaji Badejo, a 6ft 10in art student, inside H.R. Giger's latex suit.
Covenant cost $97 million and went CGI.
The AT-AT walk in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK was modelled on an elephant.
Dennis Muren filmed Mardji, the elephant who played a bantha in the first film, and Phil Tippett and Jon Berg animated the walkers one frame at a time.
Pure stop-motion.
Trump's called Elon "our modern-day Thomas Edison", which is a funny thing to say about a man whose car company is named after Nikola Tesla.
SpaceX have agreed to buy the 800 MHz spectrum so Starlink phone signal can get through walls and work indoors. This is roughly how I'm picturing it turning up in the kitchen.
We announced an agreement to acquire a nationwide low-band spectrum license portfolio that will pave the way for @Starlink to become a major mobile carrier in the US.
With this new spectrum and our Gen2 constellation, Starlink Mobile can ensure Americans have access to high-speed mobile broadband no matter where they are → spacex.com/updates#starlink-…
Timothy Zahn, who wrote the brilliant Star Wars Thrawn books, is writing a Star Trek story set on Deep Space Nine.
The cover they've used is a warp tunnel…
Deep Space Nine is a station. It stays where it is. The cover doesn't match the place. 🤦♂️
In a major pop culture twist, Star Wars legend Timothy Zahn is making the jump to the Star Trek franchise to pen an original graphic novel called Star Trek: Roc's Egg. bit.ly/4jh77nb

Earth to Mars takes 4 to 22 min one way, depending on where the planets are in their orbits. One day soon, when man walks on Mars, if something goes wrong on Mars, they’re waiting nearly half an hour for a reply.
In Star Trek, Vulcan is roughly 16 light years away. Without subspace, that same message would take about 16 years to get there and another 16 years to get an answer.
Without faster than light communication, Starfleet Command wouldn’t know about anything going on out there.
Which Trek episodes actually treat that delay as real? I can’t remember.
