Today, I ended up in hospital after experiencing significant chest pain.
I’m now being referred to the Rapid Chest Pain Clinic because the doctors believe there could be an underlying issue that needs investigating. I’ve been put on daily aspirin and nitrolingual spray to use when the pain comes on, with clear instructions that if it doesn’t settle within five minutes, I must return immediately to hospital.
But while I should be concentrating on my health, my mind keeps going back to one thing:
What happens to the charity if we cannot secure the financial support we desperately need?
I have given 10 years of my life volunteering to this charity, following six years previously volunteering to help London’s homeless people and their dogs.
For 10 years, I have kept going because I believe in what we do. I believe in the people we help. I believe in the dogs we support. And I believe that the work we do matters.
But I have to be completely honest now.
We are struggling financially.
Fundraising is becoming harder.
Grants are becoming harder to secure.
Donations are becoming harder to find.
Yet the bills, and other essential costs do not stop.
The charity’s overheads continue every single day, whether we have the money coming in or not.
And I am reaching a point where I cannot continue carrying the financial worry, the pressure and the uncertainty on top of everything else.
I am worried about my health.
I am worried about the charity.
And I am worried about what happens next.
This isn't a post I ever wanted to write.
I don't want sympathy.
I need support.
If you have ever believed in what we do, if our work has ever meant something to you, or if you simply want to help us keep going, now is the time to stand with us.
🙏 Please donate if you can.
🙏 Please consider fundraising for us.
🙏 Please share this post.
🙏 Please talk about our charity and help us reach people who may be able to support us.
Even a small donation can help.
A share could reach someone who can make a much bigger difference.
A fundraiser could help pay an essential bill.
A regular donation could give us the stability we desperately need.
Please don't wait until we're forced to say that we can no longer continue.
We have spent years helping others through some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable.
Right now, we need people to help us.
I have given everything I can for the last 10 years.
But I cannot do this alone anymore.
Please help us keep the charity alive.🧡

Slightly scared to see what October has in store for us… 😳Not even 72 hours in and already had 19 admissions, including 9 flystrike cases.
Eric & Ernie were admitted last night, both cold, dehydrated and with flystrike. Thankfully, they’re looking much brighter today! 🙌🦔🐾
Thank you @TravelodgeUK for a very comfortable stay Monday-Friday at your London Covent Garden hotel
Nice to see you do accessible rooms as super rooms and not just the ordinary rooms.
Good to have choice.
Great staff team.

ANOTHER MR B — A VERY SPECIAL NEW BEGINNING ….
We’d like you to meet another very special boy, Mr B.
His story began in incredibly sad circumstances. Mr B’s beloved owner sadly passed away in hospital, leaving this beautiful boy without his human.
Mr B was taken into the care of the police, who contacted Dogs on the Streets to see if we could help with his rehoming with the NOK.
Well… of course we said yes.
Why wouldn’t we?
Thankfully, they able to locate Mr B’s two human sisters, who were absolutely overwhelmed with emotion when they were reunited with him.
And honestly… just LOOK at that smile! 🥹🐶❤️
There’s something incredibly special about knowing that these two sisters now get to keep a little piece of their Dad with them , his beautiful dog, who loved him and was such an important part of his life.
Mr B is now surrounded by people who love him, and he gets to continue his journey with his family by his side.
Sometimes, in the middle of the saddest stories, a little bit of happiness finds its way through.
Your Dad may not be here, but you’ll carry a part of him with you wherever you go.
We’re so grateful to the police for reaching out to us and allowing us to be part of this very special reunion.
Another happy ending. Another family reunited. Another dog safely home. 🧡

Meet Mr. B.
Mr. B is a beautiful boy who found himself in a very serious and frightening situation.
I can’t go into too much detail, but his owner was severely attacked, and Mr. B was taken and later found tied up somewhere. Thankfully, a member of the public found him and took him to a vet.
Mr. B was scanned for a microchip and thankfully, our phone number was registered against it.
Mr. B was a client of ours, so instead of him going to the Warden, he was brought into our care while we desperately tried to find his owner.
We contacted various services we knew his owner had previously been in contact with, but sadly, nobody had seen him. As the days passed, we became increasingly worried.
Then, a few days ago, we received the call we had been hoping for.
His owner had reached out to one of his support workers, who told him to contact us. When he called and we told him that we had his beloved dog, he was absolutely overwhelmed with emotion. He was crying almost hysterically and, honestly, I nearly cried too. 🥹
We couldn’t wait to reunite Mr. B with his owner.
And finally, Mr. B went home.
His owner is now in a safe space, and this beautiful boy is back where he belongs.
This is exactly why we put our phone number against our clients microchips.
Unfortunately, people’s circumstances and contact details can change quite frequently. Having our number there gives their pets another lifeline if something goes wrong.
Microchipping really can be the difference between a lost dog being reunited with their family and their story taking a very different path.
This time, thankfully, it was a very happy reunion.
Welcome home, Mr. B. And to his owner, we are so incredibly happy that you are both safe. 🧡
