The Israeli election proves definitively a) that a clear majority of Jewish Israelis are psychotically racist and b) the opposition will only oust the psychotically racist right by allying with Palestinians which they won't do because ... see point a).

Neoliberalism is Fabian socialism. Because we have governments to protect property and mop up capitalism's social mess just enough to prevent insurrection. Libertarians are possibly the most dangerously indoctrinated, miseducated and deluded cultists in modern history.
Replying to @ProfHall1955
That’s far from an accurate description of reality. The 0.00001%, not the 1% of whom you speak, funded and promoted the opposite system—Fabian socialism—as a tool to promote the centralisation by which they would gain control of the world. That process is in its final stages and it’s a disaster. The decentralised economies and free markets championed by Von Hayek produced far less inequality than the corporatist system we now confront.

Even in Norway, a good friend tells me, demonstrate for peace and you're condemned as a Putinist and recieve attention from the security services. At the bottom of all this anxiety, paranoia and warmongering is the unavoidable fact that the West is heading for an almighty financial crash. The East is rising, multipolarity is the future and the 4400 year old debt-servicing system the West calls an 'economy', which has created incredible wealth for the creditor class and their middle-class techies and administrators, has reached its endgame. No longer will the rest of the world allow themselves to be bullied into handing over ridiculously cheap land, labour and resources while servicing suffocating debts. It's over. The creditor class and their political-military puppets can't negotiate because they never had to and never learned - they have to go.

.@mwd892. And why is this good for us? What do we gain from spending large chunks of our GDP on ruining and bleeding Russia? Before NATO started meddling in the region, there was peace in Ukraine. Did you not approve of that? Do you like war?
We’re getting good bang for our back by sending aid to Ukraine. We are weakening the Russia without our own military being employed or our economy being significantly disrupted. The plight of Ukrainians is sad but it should not dictate our foreign policy.

I’d urge Greens not to be intimidated by people trading on their credentials as “economists”. Listen to the argument. If it sounds like neoliberalism dressed up in radical language, trust your gut. People often flaunt their degrees when their arguments can’t speak for themselves.

Just listen to this. Then consider these polls: 76% of Jewish Israelis think there are no innocents in Gaza (Aug 2025) 82% support expelling Palestinians from Gaza (May 2025) 47% support killing all inhabitants of conquered enemy cities (May 2025)

Do I have this right? In the lead up to October 7th: - The Israeli government funds Hamas to the tune of billions of dollars. - The Israeli government ignores warnings from IDF spotters up to 2 years in advance of Oct 7. - The Israeli government ignores the entire Jericho Wall blueprint for the Al Aqsa Flood operation they acquired at least a year in advance. - The Israeli government ignores Qatar’s warning of the impending attack by Hamas. - The Israeli government ignores Egypt’s warning of the impending attack by Hamas. - The Israeli government ignores the US intelligence warning of the impending attack by Hamas. - The Israeli government ignores the public postings showing Hamas training for the attack. - The Israeli government moves the IDF away from the Gaza wall in the days leading up to Oct 7. - Once the attack begins, the Israeli government does not send the military in for several hours despite the IDF having military bases nearby and being “one of the most advanced militaries in the world.” - Once they send the IDF in, the Israeli government orders the military to kill everyone including innocent Israelis (a mass Hannibal Directive). Of the roughly 1,200 Israelis killed, most were likely killed by Israel. - When Hamas offers to free all civilian hostages on the first day following the attack with nothing in return, the Israeli government refuses to accept the hostages.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov🇷🇺: ‘Over the past 500 years, all tragedies in the world originated in Europe or occurred owing to European policies: colonisation, the Crusades, the Crimean War, Napoleon, WW1, Hitler…’ After 300 years of slaughtering the peoples of the world and plundering the wealth of the global south to build the cities of Europe… Their empires crumbled in 1945. Since then, all they have had to offer the world is neocolonialism, uncritical vassalage to the United States, and now face being an afterthought and an irrelevance. Instead of recognising a new world exists where neocolonialism will not be tolerated, and prioritising economic rejuvenation via engagement with the rising powers of the 21st Century… Europe instead decides to invest its remaining and dwindling fortunes into the military-industrial complex to fight a war against Russia which none of their populations are remotely interested in…while the rest of the civilised world invests in trade and development. Europe had a last chance to look to the future, and instead violently jerked their heads 180 degrees back to the past.
Prof. Richard Wolff: ‘The only solution for Europe’s decline to re-orient themselves to the rest of the world. The only European country to have done that is RUSSIA🇷🇺.’ ‘World Wars One and Two were the culmination of European colonialism, in which the leading colonial powers slaughtered each other on a spectacular level that the world had never seen before or since, luckily speaking. But that was the end of all of those empires. Only one survived: the United States, protected by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and by the limits of air power at that time, they came through. You know, Russia lost 27 million people in World War II. The United States death count: 400,000. No comparison between these two. The last 70 years have been the uni-empire. The United States inherited, benefited from, and consolidated, and became the global empire. With all the wealth that had been siphoned out of the so-called Global South to Europe, now going instead, here to the United States. The United States gave a portion of that back to Europe, a kind of debt, if you like, of having inherited all that empire, all that wealth, but they never gave the empire back to the Europeans, so they lost it, and now they’re losing what little bit they held on to, and it’s over. And the question is, can military Keynesianism replace the fantastic transfer of wealth in the 17th, 18th, and 19th century into the 20th? And my answer is no. There is no way that that domestic program can do for England or for Europe, all the colonial powers, what they lost. The only way to do that, ironically, would be for European countries to understand the need to reorient themselves to the rest of the world, and there’s only one country in Europe that has done that, and that’s Russia.’ Full interview in the quoted post 👇 @profwolff

Watch this. Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion “Zionism is racism”, spells out the central obscenity of our age – the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors that it is they who are the racists. “We as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people… our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death … And to have to sit here … and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.” /1

Don't be gaslit on the Serbian elections. Student List has won on an anti-corruption and free speech platform. It is definitely not pro-NATO or anti-Russian. It is mildly pro-EU, but so was the previous largest party. The main explicitly pro-EU party got zero seats.

Excellent insights by @SteveKeenEcon on the systemic flaws behind the current crisis in France and across Europe. His four "heretical" conclusions to end Europe's decline are: 1️⃣ Abolish the Euro and return to national currencies. 2️⃣ Run government deficits to create fiat money. 3️⃣ Use those deficits to fully fund public education and infrastructure. 4️⃣ Restrict private debt—the true trigger of economic collapse. profstevekeen.substack.com/p…

The question here is - does Rachel actually know she's talking complete nonsense or does she believe it? Money that doesn't exist?? Issuing public or private credit creates money, a fact confimed by that wacky fringe anarcho-commie organisation called the Bank of England.
“Next year he actually has to find the money that doesn’t exist.” “There are things the Government can do that aren’t just about tax.” Rachel Wolf, who co-wrote the 2019 Conservative manifesto and Paul Nowak, TUC General Secretary, discuss the challenge facing Andy Burnham’s government, ahead of next week’s Budget #Newsnight

The report is asking us to consider anti-Israel sentiment — a response to a state committing a genocide — is the same as anti-semitism. It is a bullshit report, based on a shoddy methodology. Ridiculous this is an FT editor. The only paper I read and would defend as decent.
The most disingenuous left line is "no hierarchy of racism". It's used only about antisemitism and actually mean they want it deprioritised below issues they care about more. Jews are only asking so called "anti-racists" for the same concern they rightly demand for others.

Robert, the report rubbishes itself. It is a shoddy piece of work that relies on ridiculous statistics. It should be consigned to the bin. I'm very surprised a senior journalist at the FT, of all places, is defending it.
Replying to @robertshrimsley
That's why they are so keen to rubbish a report on antisemitism in schools. Because they are the ones with the hierarchy.

B’Tselem urgently calls on governments and international institutions to act now, using all means available under international law, to prevent the forcible displacement of Palestinian civilians, collective punishment and extensive unlawful destruction in Hebron. Israeli leaders are openly declaring their intentions, and actions on the ground have already begun. Following the shooting near Hebron on 23 October, in which two Israeli soldiers were killed, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz openly announced plans to forcibly displace Palestinian residents and carry out extensive destruction in the area. In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared: “We will apply in the cities the successful offensive model we implemented in the refugee camps.” That same model has already displaced more than 33,000 Palestinians in the northern West Bank. Now, Israeli leaders are threatening to bring the same mass displacement and destruction to Hebron. Implementation has already begun. Israeli forces imposed a cordon on Hebron and Halhul, while the Civil Administration began demolishing Palestinian structures in the neighborhood of Farsh al-Hawa. At the same time, Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced the establishment of four new settlement farming outposts in the South Hebron Hills. Israeli leaders are openly announcing plans for collective punishment and acts that could constitute war crimes. These plans echo Israel’s devastating operations as part of the genocide in Gaza and mark a further escalation of its ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing as part of the Elimination Project in the West Bank: the systematic dismantling of Palestinian collective life while expanding settlements and entrenching permanent Israeli control. The world cannot stand by as Israel continues its assault on Palestinians, waiting for yet more neighborhoods to be emptied and erased before intervening, despite what we have already witnessed in Gaza and the northern West Bank. Governments and international bodies must act now to prevent these crimes and protect Palestinian civilians.

Hi Danny. Have you read my book? Have you engaged with its content at all? I ask because you don't appear to engage with the substance of my post. I'd be happy to send you a copy. I'd also be happy to come into Times Radio, again, to explain my position - and maybe you'd like to reflect on why the Labour Party and the likes of Morgan McSweeney were so desperate to kill my book that they went after my friends, colleagues and family - after working with your colleagues at the Sunday Times! I believe you've misrepresented and misunderstood my argument and my work. My "preoccupation" is not with the idea that Labour took antisemitism too seriously and dedicated undue resources to it and that Jews are given "special status." My "preoccupation", throughout my career, which extends long before investigating the Labour Party, is political corruption and the abuse of power. My "preoccupation" in my book is understanding how the tiny Labour Together faction used unlawful means to capture the Labour Party and then the state, and the damage they've done to democracy as a result. My "preoccupation" is understanding how that faction achieved power and how they wielded it, which included cynically using antisemitism in contemporaneously undisclosed dark arts campaigns to destroy a political project it could not defeat openly. Your colleagues Pogrund and Maguire called McSweeney's campaign an act of unparalleled sabotage, based on systematic dishonesty, which is incontrovertible on the evidence. Importantly, the central players in these campaigns were not Jewish. It was people like Steve Reed, Morgan McSweeney, Imran Ahmed. None of the "brave eight" Labour MPs were Jewish - Reed, Philipson, Powell, Cruddas, Mahmood, Streeting, Reeves and McMahon. My "preoccupation" is understanding the consequences that flowed from the factional uses of antisemitism. Three are notable here. First, the Party systematically harassed and expelled left-wing Jews. I tell the story, for example, of how the Party investigated Riva Joffe, a lifelong antiracist campaigner, on her literal deathbed - because of a Facebook post advertising an Israel-Apartheid week event at a university. The second is that the Party adopted a position of prophylactic deference to Israel even as it was clear that Israel was going to commit vast war crimes in Gaza. The third is that the Party effectively stigmatised pro-Palestinian solidarity as Jew hate, and, in power, used the state to hugely constrain and curtail the rights of protest. My "preoccupation" with this report is that it's really, really bad. Not "bad" as in unwise, but slapdash. Bad data, basic errors of fact, crazy recommendations that don't even follow from the bad data - all smacking of an effort to reach pre-determimed outcomes for political reasons. The question is why aren't you angry? Why isn't the scandal that this government has overseen and accepted a report on a profound and serious issue whose drafters took three months to produce slop that can be shot apart in hours? Why aren't you angry that this report is so stupid and so inflammatory that the NEU has already come out against it? I have a school age child. I am friends with many Jewish parents with kids at the school. Some are Zionist, some are anti-Zionist. Some don't care about Israel and want to talk about Strictly and PS5 games. As a result of this report, my child's school is going to be pressured into accepting the IHRA Definition, which effectively declares Jewish parents and children antisemitic for their antizionism. There are Palestinian parents at the school. They will likely be told they can't wear a watermelon pin or the flag of Palestine when they drop their kids at school. I can't see how this isn't going to create serious upset - and real chaos - at the school. This is going to happen IN EVERY SCHOOL in the country. How can you not see that this is going to make it so much harder to tackle antisemitism?

Position statement. If Zionism were simply about establishing the right of Jews to live safely wherever they are, including in their ancestral homeland, I would be a Zionist. But this isn't what Zionism is about. It is, and always has been, about creating a Jewish-majority state in a land where the majority of people are not Jewish. This necessarily means either removing most non-Jews or denying them citizenship. Zionists have done, and are still doing, both. I believe in the right of ALL people to live safely wherever they are. I oppose every means used to drive people out of their homes and lands: mass murder, ethnic cleansing, systematic violence, denial of citizenship, violation of basic human rights. Zionism uses all these means to create and maintain its Jewish state. Therefore I am an anti-Zionist.
