There's a fine line between freedom of speach and amplification of hatred , mis-information etc. twitter has chosen to step over that line, had given elmo the benefit of the doubt but the platform has lost the plot.

my 2 cents is govt. & orgs. wield a lot of power in social media, if they distribute via one platform only that is where the action goes. so they can chose to use that power to shape the landscape. good guide on how to switch 👇🏻

Thankyou 🙏, have tried a couple of times and ultimately been too lazy to make the move stick, the ability to auto find your old followed accounts is 👌
How to leave Twitter and where to go. Some simple advice if you're thinking of it (surprised that lots of people still think BlueSky is invite only, etc.) medium.com/@jamestplunkett/h…

The most important wildlife metric of our time. Created using data collected by our scientists in the Living Planet Index, the biodiversity stripes show our world turning green to grey. There has been an average 69% decline in wildlife populations since 1970.

Looking for some help with timeseries animations in QGIS using the builtin function. Trying to debug what causes the animation to flicker with large numbers of features is this something you've experience @undertheraedar

Since I started researching gaps in public data back in 2019, I’ve found plenty. Lots of these gaps look like quite innocent oversights. But sometimes, the data gaps seem suspicious and highly political. Here’s a thread on a discovery of the suspicious kind. 🧵

1/x Hat tip to @Protons4B. Used his excellent blog with spreadsheet (protonsforbreakfast.wordpres…) to: 1. Estimate heat transfer coefficient 2. Estimate size of heat pump home would require 3. Estimate cost of heating home with heatpump in place of gas. What did i learn..

Edit: on costs that should have read £6.50 for elec and £6.21 for gas (ouch). Full workings >> docs.google.com/spreadsheets… cc: @mikefsway & @gjbennett77

It was quite sunny here yesterday so could have couple a heatpump with some form of solar assist and got that down, if agile tarriffs were still competitive that would have come in to play. Small print follows

We're running a low flow temp setup with a weather compensating boiler, highest flow temp seen was 50 C in steady operation it's a bit lower. Set back to 16 C overnight as chart, monitor is Govee (recomended and cheap)
