I am not just a patient. I am a health worker who became a patient, and that has allowed me to see our healthcare system from both sides. 💔 I have seen the gaps, the struggles, the delays and the financial burden. I have seen how easily a patient can feel helpless when they cannot afford the care they desperately need.
Someone once said, “You can never truly know the pain of a shoe until you wear it.”
Today, I understand those words in a way I never imagined. I used to care for patients; now I am the patient fighting to survive.
I’m on dialysis, fighting to raise money for a kidney transplant and trying to regain the life I once had. I have seen firsthand how a system meant to protect lives can leave patients and even health workers struggling.😔
My story is painful, but I hope it sparks a conversation about the healthcare system we deserve,one where no patient is left behind simply because they cannot afford to live🙏🤔
