EMINEM clarifies that While MGK's comments about his Daughter were Problematic, He had a more Pettier reason for his response.
“The reason that I dissed him is because he got on... First he said “I'm the greatest rapper alive since my favorite rapper banned me from Shade 45" or whatever he said, right?”
“Like I'm trying to hinder his career. Well fuck about your career. You think I actually fucking think about you?”
“You know how many fucking rappers that are better than you? You're not even in the fucking conversation.”
“I don't care if you fucking blow or if you don't blow, doesn't matter to me.”
“And on Twitter he said, "You just rap, you're not God. Had some shit to get off my chest." And by the way, this was on the heels of the freestyle he had just did about Shade 45, like, "Shut the fuck up! Shut the fuck up!"”
“Now, now I'm in this fucking weird thing because I'm like, I got to answer this motherfucker.”
“And every time I do that, it makes that person as "irrelevant" as people say I am in hip-hop, I make them bigger by getting into this thing where I'm like, I want to destroy him.”

So where did the rest go?
According to Spotify, about 80% goes to the recording side. That usually means the record label, not the artist.

Spotify pushed back. Their exec said a billion streams pays out somewhere between $3 million and $5 million.
So where did the rest go?
According to Spotify, about 80% goes to the recording side. That usually means the record label, not the artist. The other 20% goes to publishing and gets split again.
By the time it reaches the person who actually made the song, it's a fraction of a fraction.
Snoop says he learned this the hard way. In the same interview he admits he almost went broke 20 times before he figured out the business side.
So he did something about it. He bought Death Row Records, the label that made him famous. Now he owns the catalog instead of renting his own music back.
