I'm very sad to report that Rick Jones, aka Yoffy from Fingerbobs has passed away aged 84. I initially interviewed him for my book many years ago and we stayed in touch. He was a huge creative spirit, a talented musician and a lover of life. I shall miss him greatly

It is incumbent on all of us in hospital medicine, existing consultants and consultants to be, that this contract is rejected at all costs. By removing clinical independence it stifles patient care. If I was a Irish trainee abroad I would certainly not be coming home for it

Have just read the Draft Sláintecare Consultant contract, May 31st 2021 version. Reads more like an 18th Century Bond of Indenture @IMO_IRL @IHCA_IE have a lot of work to do to try and make this workable. Given its current form, would not advise potential applicants to sign it

I was the on-call SpR psychiatrist last night in South London I assessed people in a mental health crisis who needed emergency inpatient care There was NOT A SINGLE PSYCHIATRIC BED AVAILABLE IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY If this was physical health, there would be outrage
