Very true! A year ago they claimed there was enough production in storage to last us one, maybe 2 years regardless of how many acres were planted in 2026 or what the yields were. In June 2026, when seeded acres were realized that began to change and along came mother nature!

Going into planting 2026 they said a crop failure wouldn’t affect prices much! Way too much carry over!! Everything feels like a secret in the dry bean world
When grower dry bean prices rise as quickly as they have during the 2026 harvest, it signals what is to come! Very interesting market with strong potential!

Bunge at grassy pulled a fast one on grain ticket. Took off $400 for drying had two loads at 15 moisture and the previous six loads at 14 never been charged drying cost in my life. Definitely will we brought up just a heads up
Rains earlier this week have hindered dry bean harvest progress in many parts of Manitoba and North Dakota.... 30% of the crop is still in the field in central North America... Weather dictates everything over the next 2 to 3 weeks!

Didn’t get any rain, and still have mold in the areas that didn’t drown out
Southern Manitoba received nothing so far in parts of North Dakota also... Those that did get half an inch are lucky but it has a limited effect maybe 2 days probably won't the status of the crop much.
Well it's the end of July and our hopes for rain have been diminishing and I fear many crops not having received rain in the last week, will suffer severely!

Post harvest rally in dry bean prices in the future or will we see it before?
It was a great experience and I encourage more dry bean growers visit this region which is so unique and amazing!!!!!

Seeded acreage report out today, not entirely accurate as producers intentions to plant Dry beans that they didn't are included. 15% reduction from last year they claim, but 30% is probably more realistic! Need heat and less moisture at this point! Crop is getting smaller!
Question of the day. Are $0.33 per lb US 2026 crop prices in North Dakota enough to encourage acres of black beans and pinto beans?
