☀️💥 The Sun just sneezed a giant fiery whip!
A couple of days ago our star ejected a colossal prominence about 500,000 km long — bigger than the distance from Earth to the Moon, and large enough to fit nearly 40 Earths lined up in a row.
The searing plasma cloud mostly flew past Earth (we’ll only get a glancing graze), while among the nearest planets the only one sitting right in the path of this cosmic “shot” is Mars.
The Sun is still actively sneezing toward the Red Planet. 💥
