reminder: it's not just about how fast the balloon rises it's about how long the string is one of my favorite things about dc is the city is small enough to get a lot of data points on people over time keep getting better. as @dtran320 frequently reminds me, 1% daily progress 🎈

Only just learned about Reinforcement Learning with Contrastive Distillation so I don't know anything about the claims here, but love the swag of the Space Jam TypeSafe jersey, the pink jacket on top of the startup shirt (are these AI?), and @completeskeptic saying "Output tokens are free because they're finally too f*cking cheap to meter"
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI? I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev • 20-200x faster • 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free) • Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution

34 days 😬 85.7 miles on 6 days last week including 20.8 stroller miles. No big crazy workouts but two solid ones, so drawing belief from the years of solid work. BELIEVE!
50 days til the Chicago Marathon! 20 miler today came with the extra challenge of having gone to the incredible @NoahKahan concert last night, but a @precisionfandh 30 caffeine gel saved me. Easy to mod today, so paced a few teammates for parts of their M efforts at the end!

Steve Kerr says Roger Federer taught his Warriors team the secret to sustained success wasn’t outworking everyone, it was building a life around your craft you never want to escape from “I’ll tell you a great story about Roger Federer. We were playing in China with the Warriors in 2017. Roger was in Shanghai for the Masters tournament, so we invited him to come speak to the team.” “Draymond Green asked him, ‘How do you sustain success? How have you managed to win majors 20 years after you first won one?’ Everyone was expecting him to say, ‘I work harder than everybody,’ the will, all the clichés.” “Roger Federer says, ‘I get up every morning and I make breakfast for my kids. Then I take them to school and drop them off. Then I go practice tennis for about two hours, and I’ve figured out a really good routine where I don’t destroy my body, but I can get all the work in I need.” “‘Then I go have lunch with my wife. In the evening, we cook dinner together. The kids are all home from school. We ask them about school. There’s so much joy in the house. We put them to bed, and then I put my head on the pillow and go, “Man, that was just a great day.” And I’ve been doing that for 20 years.’” “And it was like, yes. That’s it. That’s the formula. That’s what leads to sustained success. He loves tennis. He loves his family. He loves life. It’s not outworking everybody and banging your head against the wall, ‘I’m going to be better than everybody.’ It’s allowing your natural talent to shine through with a work ethic, with a great family life, with perspective, with peace, with mindfulness.” “It’s perspective. It’s joy. It’s passion. It’s mindfulness. It’s an awareness that we are truly lucky. To get the most out of ourselves, it’s our daily rituals and experiences and love and joy.”

Are Persistent-Sol/Persistent-Astra and the new OpenAI agent message board hacks life imitating art (@moltbook) from back in March?

I stroller run my 2yo to daycare in SF most days. A @Waymo at the intersection means smiles and "Look! A Waymo car!". Any other car: 1) Watch out for the rolled stop sign 2) Watch out for cars stopped IN THE CROSSWALK, get ready to go off the sidewalk ramp BEHIND them 3) Assume they'll look left, then FLOOR IT right without checking for pedestrians 4) Switch to one hand push to have an arm ready to flail like a wacky-waving-inflatable-tube-man to catch their attention out of the corner of their eye because they're staring at their phone
Waymo said its robotaxi didn’t do anything wrong, it had stopped by the time the father interceded. sfchronicle.com/sf/article/w…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Waymo vehicle stopped 13 feet from the child, displaying the "pedestrian yield" symbol on its dome display. The child was detected and was never in danger. sfchronicle.com/sf/article/way…

Wait but if you actually had a Palantír, wouldn’t you use it to know who’s going to what parties?

69 days til we take a crack at 2:30 at @ChiMarathon! Rest day today, so just a short bike ride to the office this morning. Last week was a down week: 62 miles in 6 days including 22 lovely weekend miles in Truckee while there for a wedding (our first ever weekend away from 2yo)!

Game changer
Replying to @ClaudeDevs
You can now start a Claude Code session directly from your phone. Any machine running claude remote-control shows up as a device card at the top of the Code tab. Tap it, pick a directory, and it starts on that machine.

David (my coach, not me) mentioned this on the latest SWAP podcast in reaction to @jarredsumner coaching Claude towards making progress on the Riemann Hypothesis while on a run and periodically telling it to "keep going" and "believe in yourself" nitter.cf/jarredsumner/status/20…
Heard this idea from my running coach @mountainroche: what if instead of being agent managers, we're actually all Claude coaches? Forget being coached by AI. Being a coach FOR AI!

I spend quite a bit more time reading output from @claudeai than straight code now. Using @ClaudeDevs fullscreen renderer in Ghostty in verbose mode, but often find myself asking it to create an HTML artifact for better reading/comprehension. Any tips or suggestions?

I realized I prefer reading some output via remote control from Claude iOS or Claude Desktop, so that feels like there's something I'm missing

Was lacking motivation to finish up the week yesterday after a kid bday party and a nap, but paid a visit to my favorite place to run in SF (maybe in the world)
Week 6/14 for the @chimarathon build: 82 miles in 6 days and a return to run-commuting! DNF’ed Wednesday’s workout due to stomach issues, allergies, and just mentally not being in it, but bounced back to run a strong long run on Saturday.

9 weeks til @ChiMarathon! 80 miles in 6 days this week w/ 24 stroller miles. Hopefully rehabbed a neck/shoulder issue enough to run w/ a pack this week. Love the stroller miles w/ our chatty 2yo and a 3-mile runcommute >>> the train/Uber/Waymo. Multi-purpose, not multi-task!
