Was a time when the very need for LF buses was questioned, hiding behind the usual excuses (mileage, costs etc), and the idea of universal access was not understood. So to see MTC now moving towards a fully LF floor fleet is amazing. Still a long way to go but we've come so far!
This is the inclusivity we need...🙌 Chennai MTC Low Floors Buses!

Very impressive that France can tender for a new high speed railway line by the end of 2026 and be confident about trains running by 2032. They really do know how to do this well.

It's a sour joke that the railway industry clapped along with Hendy's rubbish about exceeding 300km/h being somehow gold plated and unnecessary when 2010s China made 350km/h its standard. HS2 will open in the 2040s running at speeds from the 1980s.
Blasting through stations at 350km/h on Chinese High Speed Rail. Smooth as anything and very quiet.

Not sure if this new body is supposed to replace @Guidance_TN or sit above it? Guidance does a lot of the investment promotion and handholding anyway. I wonder if this will be a high level agency for investments akin to what TNIDB notionally is for infrastructure.
Big...🚨 To achieve its target of becoming a USD 1.5 trillion economy by 2036, Tamil Nadu has established the Tamil Nadu Investor Promotion Commission (TNIPC) to drive investments into the State... #InvestInTN #Manufacturing

Trying to imagine how many people will be using this line once the stretch via T Nagar and Nandanam to Marina Beach is opened...should be pretty high!
Poonamallee-Vadapalani Metro line inaugurated on October 11 clocks 5.83 lakh passengers in October: -This is 5.4% of the Chennai Metro Rail's entire ridership of 1.08 crore in October -Around 28,000 people are using this new line every day -Maximum was on October 16 when 4.52 lakh people used the service @cmrlofficial #SuperChennai

One can debate the utility of naming stations after politicians but it ought to be a minimum expectation that the city's name be part of the title!
Must be one of the longest station names in India?

Mumbai's relatively linear geography and the importance of its blue line (L1) are pretty clearly visible. For Chennai, opening part of L4 hasn't reduced the network's grid-like nature which suits the city since the metro was meant to supplement the very radial suburban network.
Another fun visualization on Indian Metros!

HK is the most magical place on earth to live IMO. I went to uni and lived right here for ~4 years or so. Imagine stepping outside your flat and walk 15 minutes east and you're in downtown Manhattan i.e Central with world-class shopping and nightlife. Take a cab 15 minutes south and you have half a dozen good beaches including Repulse Bay and Shek O. You can go there at 2pm, sunbathe and swim in warm weather and be home by 6pm. Take a short 20 minute metro ride across the harbour north and you're in a film set i.e Mongkok, with food on every corner and bright neon lighting up the night sky. Half an hour west on the Airport Express and you're at the world's best airport with most of Asia within 5 hours flight away. And the best part? Walk 45 minutes up and you're at Victoria Peak, the best city view in the world IMO, and the top of a mountain. nitter.cf/Civixplorer/status/211…

A lovely station (2nd oldest in India still standing?) It was going to be the 3rd terminus for Chennai but land problems (and the fact that SR would have probably had to shift the loco shed) scuttled that. In hindsight a good decision, though north Chennai still needs a terminus.

I just want to say that as a transportation engineer, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is one of the best pieces of legislation passed in the last 40 years, and it’s the best accessibility law in the world. Here’s to a better and more just world. The work is not over.
Paralympian and Iowa Democrat Josh Turek will now sit in the former seat of Sen. Tom Harkin, who authored the Americans with Disabilities Act and made life more accessible for millions of Americans.

The ideal Texas HSR triangle!
I'VE BEEN TAKEN UP TO THE THIRD HEAVEN. I'VE BEEN JACKED INTO THE BIG PLAN. YOU AIN'T HEARD NOTHING. YOU AIN'T SMELLED NOTHING LIKE THIS.

Texas high speed rail might be back on the agenda!
We are in truly uncharted territory for Texas transportation. Every single transit and rail effort in the state, from high-speed rail to city bus systems, has worked under a state government always assumed hostile. That is no longer the case.

Definitely makes sense for @CMOTamilnadu to lobby for Vellore. But equally (getting on an old hobby horse here), TN has to think about how to extend this south to Madurai and beyond in the future (ideally more efficient if it's via a through-station instead of a terminus).
HSR South India Corridor 🤷🏽‍♂️ Things which would have been ideal for TamilNadu 🚅 One more stoppage in the Hyderabad - Chennai line in the North / NW Chennai 🚅 Parandur station with airport in the Bangalore - Chennai line ( our own debacle ) 🚅 Vellore if not Hosur as an intermediate for Chennai - Bangalore line ( I don't think Vellore - Bangarpet would be any execution challenge ) 🚅 Extension of Chennai lines atleast till Pondy or KTCC node as a premarker for future intra state HSR With just 3 stations including the terminal Chennai station , TN / Chennai is receiving the short end of the stick in this plan !! 🤦🏽‍♂️ GoTN should negotiate for some improvement in this plan with GoI @CMOTamilnadu @AadhavArjuna @AshwiniVaishnaw

3 hrs travel is good for Chennai - Hyderabad but I'd still think that route could be shorter (assuming geography allows). If the govt is serious about a national HSR network, Chennai - Vijaywada could be part of a route to Kolkata, connecting to a separate Hyderabad - Vizag line.
🚨 The expected route of bullet train corridor in the south of India.

Genuinely one of mankind's greatest scientific achievements.
Nearly 49 years after its launch, Voyager 1 is about to achieve a historic first: the only human-made object ever to cross the one-light-day mark—roughly 16 billion miles from Earth—pushing humanity’s reach into the true depths of interstellar space.

First time I've seen a T2 service heading north of the bridge instead of just going through the city circle. Very unusual service!

Hey @T2SydneyTrains, very curious about why this service was running on Saturday at Granville. I know trackwork meant T1s were using the local platforms instead of 1/2 but a T2 going to Hornsby? Would love to know why!
