Function Studio crossed 10 reviews yesterday. Only 990 left to go.

1.4% of customers left. 0.5% of revenue left. Small stores leave. Big stores stay. So I’m building for big stores.

Got Shopify clients who need complex discount logic? Send them my way. 20% of what they pay, every month, for as long as they stay. And they stay.

ok so i finally got here. you can now build an entire promo in FS. storefront to checkout. one flow. that means: category + PDP discounts cart upsells complex GWPs storefront + checkout widget builder cart/checkout validation scheduling show different widgets based on conditions. block checkout for customers who don’t qualify. pull data from metafields if you need to. then schedule the whole thing and go to bed.

People are actually using the Function Studio MCP. I launched it and never looked at the numbers. Just checked. Folks are really using it 🔥 Who needs to learn their way around an app’s UI in 2026, right?

My Shopify discount functions went from 240-255KB to 160-181KB. Didn’t expect I could win back so much space just by swapping out a few of the core libs I was using 🤯 P.S. I use Rust

60M+ function runs yesterday. zero InstructionCountLimitExceeded errors optimizations hold up so far!

I quietly built a widget builder for Function Studio over a few months. Shipped it in October. Two weeks ago a merchant used it to customize their gift-with-purchase campaign right before launch. We tuned it together. It held up.
Working on some fun stuff again! Migrating to Polaris 2.0 and wrapping up the storefront / checkout widget builder soon.

I used to think you couldn’t get rid of every InstructionCountLimitExceeded error on big carts in Shopify Functions. Turns out that was just a limiting belief 😅 Huge thanks to @dave_cameron and the team. They keep making it easier for developers to do their best work.

MCP is live: can build, test, and publish discounts and other Shopify Functions as Flows. The cool thing is that defining discounts as a flow sometimes gives you flexibility other apps lack. It’s actually very close to writing code, but Flows are much easier to tweak and maintain, and you get pre-built, optimized, battle-tested blocks that you or your agent can manage. Once flow is built - it's using built-in tester tool to verify that discount actually works (using the same Rust binary that's executed by Shopify)
I guess Function Studio gets MCP tomorrow

Vibe code a Shopify discount or promotion (storefront and checkout blocks are available). Test it right away. Then tweak it in a visual flow editor.

Dumb question for Shopify devs: how do you stop bots from triggering InstructionCountLimitExceededError?

I think the hard part of making Flow-like editor for Shopify Functions is not the "engine". Turning flows into logic. It’s not. That part is rather easy. Making something simple enough that a merchant can open it and build what they actually need. That's what's hard.

Migrated FS to Polaris 2.0 Probably need to rethink a few components, but I like how it looks so far

1000 shops use Function Studio. Thank you for the trust! Now I get to earn the next 1000. Ok, back to work.

there's a bug affecting apps using storefront api tokens due to which you'll see an api deprecation notice in dev dashboard. and starting today, you're also likely seeing "This app is unsupported" when merchants install. turns out it's a bug on Shopify's end and the earliest it will "auto-resolve" is Oct 16. which is wild? for a period of time when merchants are actively searching for apps. 2 weeks where they'll continue to see a banner. partner/dev support was extremely unhelpful. i spoke to 2 people who each gave me ai copy-pasta answers and then refused to do anything else. i feel like this is a much bigger issue than the way it's being talked about. it needs some attention asap cc @ShopifyDevs @eytanseidman @Shopify

This works very well! Thank you for adding support for discount apps @ShopifyDevs 🥳
This is sick! Going to pair perfectly with my flow builder that I've just switched to Sonnet 5.5 🔥
