Doing the dirty work in-line and out of the backfield @ionafootball Rep 1: Wide base, active feet, washing the edge defender completely out of the lane. Rep 2: Patient across the formation, reading the scrape & sealing the second-level LB. @CoachMoffitt @vinnysullivan77 #ClassOf2029 #TightEnd #TrenchWork

Aaron Glenn on undrafted rookie WR Malik McClain, who was signed to the #Jets' active roster this week: "I'm excited to see him get out there & mix it up a little bit, and not just as a receiver but also on special teams." Glenn said McClain "did a hell of a job" on special teams in the preseason. Could serve as a gunner with Arian Smith out. "So with special teams & also getting a chance to go out there and get mixed up with the receiver spot, it'll be good for him. He's a young player. Listen, he still has a way to go, but the only way you can improve in this league is getting out there and doing it. So he's going to get a chance to get out there and do it."

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

One of the best stories you will hear about dealing with your problems head on. Worth your time…
Von Miller reveals after Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman suspended him, he packed everything he owned into his truck and started driving to Florida to transfer, when he called his he dad told him not to quit, so he turned around and led the nation with 17.5 sacks the next season “I had everything I owned in this blanket, and I went to my car. I threw it in the back and I’m driving home. I called my daddy. I’m like, ‘Daddy, man, I’m leaving. Coach Sherman kicked me off the team. I ain’t coming back until I do this and that.’” “I’m thinking my dad is going, ‘All right, we’re going to find something else.’ He said, ‘Pull that truck over, turn around, and go back to school. You’re not quitting.’” “I was like, ‘That was not the answer I was looking for.’ He was like, ‘You’re not just about to quit when it gets hard. You’re going to turn that truck back around. You’re going to go back to school and you’re going to fix it.’” “I had tears going down my face. I was like, ‘Man, this is going to be so hard to fix all of this.’ I turned around. We had a meeting. Coach Sherman told my dad the exact same thing that he told me, and my dad agreed with Coach Sherman.” “There was nowhere I could go. I just had to face the music. I had to face the truth. That spring was a hard one, but I got my grades up. I made it to all my classes. I went through the checklist of everything Coach Sherman wanted me to do.” “That following year, my junior year, was the best year that I had up until that day. I led the nation in sacks. I had 17 and a half sacks. My life had totally changed. That was all a testament to running straight through the storm. The shortest way through the storm is straight. I put my head down and I worked, and my life totally changed that offseason.”

I know we live in a world where people like to pretend that representation doesn’t matter. But there is an entire nation of people who got to see someone that looked like them play in the NFL for the first time. And I for one thinks that’s pretty cool.
This Cowboys rookie offensive lineman got a standing ovation after a 4th quarter preseason touchdown he blocked for ⬇️ Shiyazh Pete is the first Navajo to ever sign with an NFL team. Saturday night, Navajo nation showed up in Glendale, AZ, for the undrafted rookie out of Kentucky in an overwhelming way #DallasCowboys #ShiyazhPete #navajo #navajonation #nfl

Desean Jackson says Jerry Rice’s only advice for him was to slow down “Before I touched the NFL field, I trained with Jerry Rice in the Bay Area. “He said, ‘Run every route.’ I ran every route.” “He ain’t even critiquing me. He didn’t say nothing to me. He said, ‘I only want to tell you one thing on one route.’ He said, ‘You’re running too fast. Slow down.’” “I’m like, ‘What you mean, slow down?’ He said, ‘Look, you fast as hell. When you find out how to run these routes and not be full speed, you will kill that.’” “Once I figured out I could run a route and be under control and still be able to hit that gear when I needed to…” “I don’t even run my routes full speed. But when I got to go get it, I got to go get it.”
