Huge respect to the organizers, activists and voters of Brazil and Serbia. These results are due to so much work and they give us so much hope. There is nothing inevitable about the far right.

Via @_ericblanc: Shawn Fain and his left-wing slate won decisively in UAW elections.
So much for the easy narrative of progressive grad students and conservative autoworkers. Everyone wants the language of class and a fighting union.

Jacobin divulgando Acemoglu.
Décadas estão acontecendo.
Economist Daron Acemoglu wants liberal democracy to connect with working people’s material interests and political power.
His case for institutional renewal should be taken seriously, but it needs a fuller account of class, war, and worker organization. jacobin.com/2026/09/review-a…

I am very happy to see this wide ranging review from Jacobin. The review does a good job of summarizing my arguments, and its criticisms are serious and thoughtful. This is the kind of engagement I was hoping for. Thank you.

Proud of our @UAWRegion9A homie @TonyPerlUAW for taking on this new role running @NYCMayor’s Office of Worker Power! He spent a decade as a longshoreman which means he doesn’t take shit from bad bosses. Happy Labor Day to us all!

Dear followers,
I’m delighted to share this article which is finally forthcoming. We show that business school education is associated with managers paying lower wages, holding the labor share down and not sharing, revenues and profits with workers.
Forthcoming in the AER: "Eclipse of Rent-Sharing: The Effects of Managers’ Business Education on Wages and the Labor Share in the US and Denmark" by Daron Acemoglu, Alex Xi He, and Daniel le Maire. aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.12…

The Colorado makes headlines. The Rio Grande is in a worse state of collapse. Last year, I traveled 1900mi along the river. I saw the worst drought in 1200 years; I saw 15 million people about to lose drinking water.
And I met people fighting—and killing—over water. READ NOW:

The Rio Grande is dead. Over 15 million people—including millions of Texans—are just a few years away from losing their drinking water. Some could lose it as soon as next year. And we're just letting it happen, because most of these people are Mexican and Mexican American

If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon.
Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.
It leaves our workers unprotected and our streets less safe. It's time for a change.
I'm proud to support the Delivery Protection Act to crack down on exploitative subcontracting and build an economy that works for everyone.

Awesome to see @mancillabrando m share the recipe of our @UAWRegion9A political program on @InsideCityHall
Focus on our core 4 issues:
1) living wages
2) universal healthcare
3) retirement security
4) Time off the job
AND
Recruit and Run our own @UAW members for office

I absolutely love this. @NYCMayor had the vision to open up city parks all night during the Cup for hard working New Yorkers who never have time for the joy and community of the beautiful game. The results are magical. Play can bond a city

In New York City, if you break our worker protection laws and shortchange your workers, we will make you pay back what you owe.
Yesterday, we recovered $2.3M for 1,600 workers from Walgreens, Calzedonia, and Kinship Coffee. Since January, we have recovered more than $10 million for New York City workers. Because our City is not a billionaire's playground.
New Yorkers have the right to a regular schedule and protected time off. If your employer violates our laws, file a complaint at nyc.gov/workers and we will fight to put money back in your pocket.

Means testing is a great way to ensure a durable political coalition never coheres to sustain public services. Socialists generally advocate for universal programs. Hope that helps.

One thing missed by mainstream pieces on Tuesday's election is that it's a big — and very new — deal that DSA for the first time will have one of its own cadre in Congress, not just more or less paper members
