Many congratulations to Spain winning the 23rd FIFA World Cup. Interesting format but what happened to the orange segments and a cheeky cigarette at half time?

Today is Ebenezer Cobb Morley Day
Happy 194th birthday to @ebrcmorley
The man who invented Association Football in 1863 @FA
No single person deserves more credit
@barnesafc @UEFAcom @FIFAcom
I see that @FIFAcom is now claiming to be ‘The Home of Football’ which it is not. Perhaps they might have a claim to be the home of International Football which I would not object to but for now I ask that they take down the claim to be the home of football. Thank you.
We created Association Football in 1863 for it to go on to become the worldwide phenomenon it is today.
The phenomenon continues with the England Women’s team victorious in the final of UEFA Women’s Euros.
Congratulations @Lionesses
@FA @UEFAcom @FIFAcom
Many congratulations to @LFC winning the @premierleague as Champions for the 20th time.

Just spent 2 hours in midday sun beside the grave of @ebrcmorley and his wife.
Many passersby but none curious enough to enquire what I was doing.
Here's the result of my sweat and toil and ECM can now look out again over his beloved @barnes_common

Here we go again. Visited the grave of @ebrcmorley yesterday to find it slowly slipping into oblivion once more. Will have to get my tools out again. @barnes_common @FA @Gareth_Roberts_

buried in Barnes Old Cemetery.
Took this photo this morning showing flowers and a message from @BarnesFootball.
Also a wreath appearing to be placed by The FA but no media comment from them. Need worldwide acknowledgement of Morley's efforts

What a phenomenal job you all did last weekend ahead of this anniversary day, I can’t believe the difference
Today visited the grave of @ebrcmorley to clear the site ahead of the anniversary of his burial on 25 November.
Very grateful for the help of Michael Howard and Ian Tottman as we transformed the area.
See earlier posts showing the grave overgrown.

Ebenezer Cobb Morley died.
This is what the papers said about him 98 years ago.
'As a footballer, Mr Morley may justly be described as the "father" of association football, which had its birth in Barnes.'
