We have reached a point where the question is not whether people know the right thing to say after an antisemitic incident. It is whether we are prepared to do the harder work of confronting the conditions that allow antisemitism to persist, spread and become normalized?

"The measure of solidarity isn’t what people say after an attack. It’s what they are prepared to do before the next one happens."

A UN human rights officer just dies after more than two years in Houthi detention, & the UN's answer is to ask the #Houthis to investigate themselves!
But this is how UN agencies have consistently dealt with the Houthis: appeasement, even in the face of their worst abuses.
Yemen: I am devastated by the death of Mohammad el Shami, a Yemeni colleague who was arbitrarily detained by the Houthis for years. I call for an immediate investigation into his death. Mohammad’s family deserves to know the truth. ohchr.org/en/press-releases/…

Joint Statement from @FederationCJA and CIJA
An incident took place late Thursday night at Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom, where several windows were damaged by what appears to be pellet gun fire. The @SPVM and Federation CJA’s Community Security Network (CSN) were immediately notified, responded swiftly, and are actively investigating the matter, including a thorough review of security footage.
All involved parties will remain in close contact in the coming hours and days to determine the full details of this event. Based on the information we currently have, there is no active threat to the community at this time. Nevertheless, in a climate of rising antisemitism, we take this kind of incident extremely seriously.
While the investigation is still underway, we note that this is the second time in less than six months that Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom has been the target of a violent act. Enough is enough; this must stop. The Montreal Jewish community is tired of fearing for its safety and the safety of its children.
We remind all community members of the importance of remaining vigilant. If you see something, say something. Report any suspicious activity immediately to the SPVM, as well as to the Community Security Network (CSN) by calling 514-343-4343 or via federationcja.org.
BREAKING: 🇳🇿 New Zealand stops funding to UNRWA, joins 🇺🇸🇸🇪🇫🇮. FM: “We want to know our money is going for a legitimate purpose. And you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work out it certainly was not. We're not financing cases where they actually engage with terrorists.”

No. That’s not accurate. I would encourage you to look into the Gérin-Lajoie doctrine which articulates that Quebec’s domestic constitutional jurisdiction extends to the international sphere. That’s been widely recognized and accepted since the 1960s.

"What's election day like in Israel?"
Oh you know, pretty normal. Probably the same as every other country.

Canadians and Israelis have a long history of working together to save lives and make the world a better place.
That’s why we’re thrilled to learn that the producer of the Canadian-made series Mayday has reached out to Yaniv Hayun, the Israeli plumber who helped save lives aboard FlyDubai Flight 1073 by drawing on knowledge he gained from the show to help pull the plane out of a nosedive after a terrorist co-pilot took control.
CIJA is proud to share that we are proud to be working to make this connection possible, and we hope to welcome Yaniv to Canada soon!
