UK adults owe so much to the TV they watched as children. Why aren't they making sure their own children get the same chance?
"Children's programmes, as we know them, are in crisis."
Guest editor Baroness @FloellaBenjamin tells #R4Today she believes not enough is being done to make children's television 'for now'.

This is so lovely! Look what my mum's old school have done: a photo of my mum in her class, a poem (by me) about that photo, and a lovely display in her school now! Connie Ruby Isakofsky (1919-1976).

I'll always have special memories of this scene of Ed's. See why here booksforkeeps.co.uk/article/…
I’m biased because Chris is a friend…BUT… this book is a masterpiece!
A fascinating exploration into what it is to be human, what it is to be creative, how we communicate and how we developed technologies from stone axes to AI…
and beyond.
Political & thought-provoking.

A little bit of the great Jan Pieńkowski to start your week.
These pictures are from Jan’s treasure chest of an archive. He was a meticulous archiver.
(I knew Jan all my life and am now one of his literary executors). There’s so much wonderful work in here to discover🧵

If you don’t know his books,
try Meg and Mog for very young children, or one of his amazing pop-ups, Haunted House or Robot… or his incredible silhouette illustrations for Joan Aiken, or the books he illustrated for David Walser… Fairy Tales, 1001 nights.

Dear publishers
Please send us all eligible books! Your brilliant creatives deserve to be celebrated.
Thank you
Every year, I chase publishers to submit books to @jhalakprize and am always disheartened & enraged by their reluctance. Each year, amazing books are inexplicably not submitted their publishers decide they don't want to. Why is #publishing SO averse to celebrating their books?

After a day at ‘t’other place, it’s like a breath of fresh air… not infused with a timeline of endless crappy attitudes, weird bots, trolls and propaganda… but real people talking about interesting things. It feels saner… in an increasingly insane world.
