a team built a working 8-bit cpu inside figma, then ran figma on it. it won best use of figma at calhacks. the build: 4 registers, 16 opcodes about 2,300 logic gates 2,298 wires, each one a figma variable 16 bytes of ram with a hex display about 95 ticks a second in present mode most of us use variables for dark mode and spacing tokens. what's the most complicated thing you've pushed figma variables into?

back in august i built a custom cloudflare turnstile captcha for framer, with framer agents. the point was to stop bots filling out forms. if spam is clogging your site's contact form, that's a small agent job now, not a dev ticket.

figma's generative plugins now keep a version history. every edit saves a new version, an agent writes a short change note for it, and you can restore any older one. it also shows which version is published. small update, big signal. plugins people prompt into existence are getting treated like real software now, changelog and all. rolling out this week.

wonder shipped a new desktop app on sunday and it flips the usual setup. no ai credits to buy inside it. you bring the claude code or codex plan you already pay for, and the agents run locally on your real code. each chat gets its own worktree. your live app sits on the canvas next to the design. figma is plugging its tools into agents. wonder is moving the agents into the design tool. which would you actually open every day?

back in september i moved a client's html site to framer with claude fable 5.1. the whole project, same day. that used to mean rebuilding every section by hand. if your site is stuck in html and you can't edit it yourself, moving it isn't a big project anymore.

framer added multiplayer cursors to the cms this week. you can now see who's editing a formatted text field and where, same as on the canvas. formatted text also takes website embeds and vimeo now, and collections can be filtered by references. this matters most after handoff. the client writes the blog post while you fix the layout, and you can both see who's in there.

x's news tab this week: designers ditch figma for claude and codex. the same day, figma shipped the opposite bet. its mcp now hands your ai agent the image and video models from figma weave. seedance, kling, nano banana, paid with weave credits. figma isn't fighting the agents. it wants to be the tool they call. are you still drawing in figma, or mostly prompting around it?

freelancers on here are saying fiverr and upwork are fading. funny thing, i use contra for my clients but only for invoices. i brought them all over because it's easy to manage. contra itself hasn't sent me a client yet. so the marketplace was never my lead source. it's the paperwork. where do your clients actually find you?
