Spent Tuesday w/ @RebekahBoreham chatting to Yr11 students at Harwich & Dovercourt High School about all things #STEM🔬🌿🧬🐟
Dr Penny Beckerson also gave an interactive workshop on scientific careers (7 times!)
Hopefully we have inspired 1 or 2 future scientists among them ✨

Fantastic to see @EssexLifeSci at the @BritishSciFest with #OceanTravellers today.
They explore the journeys from the micro-world of plankton to giant humpback whales and uncover how humans and climate change are devastating marine ecosystems.

New and first PhD paper from @chen_zelin - we looked at hydrocarbons, metals and food webs at gradients of increasing distance from many #Oil rig infrastructures in the North Sea - you can take home two messages i. Closer to rigs and wells there is high pollution /1
North Sea fossil fuel can cause pollution to spike 10k%
Researchers from @EssexLifeSci , @NHM_London and @CefasGovUK also found species fell by 30% near platforms.
@DrNatalieHicks 🔉 "These platforms are leaving a potentially concerning legacy."
