Challenging folks' ideas is a sign of respect.
Treat folks as thinking agents with the ability to decide what they believe, rather than products of their cultural environments.
We can respect people and respectfully disagree with their ideas.

Does Bill Maher ever notice that when he has republicans on his show, there is humor, fun and the audience participates, yet when it is democrats, it is always dour, hateful and serves to fuel hate.

When Ronald Reagan completed his two terms in office, the American people were happy and elected his vice president to carry on his legacy, giving Republicans a third consecutive term.
When Barack Obama completed his two terms in office, the American people were unhappy and elected Donald Trump instead of Hillary Clinton, rejecting the continuation of his legacy and denying him the coattails of great presidents.
And perhaps therein lies the source of Obama's resentment. Not only did Trump succeed him, but his larger-than-life personality and political presence have overshadowed Obama's place in history, leaving the former president looking small in comparison to the very man he once considered unworthy of the office.
And nearly a decade later, Barack Obama still seems unable to accept that reality: that the American people rejected him and that his political career has come and gone.
Is the October surprise going to be another midnight operation where the US military removes all the Iranian leadership? Or they depose the communists in Cuba?

The last two times this Kansas Senate seat has been elected, pollsters missed to the left by 8.4 and 11.6 points.
Don't be shocked when Marshall wins Kansas by 9+

I haven't followed the outrage cycles this week so I don't really know why conservative influencers are pretending to care deeply about the Cheesecake Factory, but the correct opinion is that CF is a notch better than most sit down chain restaurants simply because the food is actually fresh while Applebee's, Chili's, Outback etc is all stale reheated soggy salty slop not fit to be consumed by dogs much less human beings. But CF still isn't especially good, and their menu is so vast that they can't possibly hope to excel at all of the dishes or actually any of them, and if you live somewhere that has one then you also almost certainly have local restaurants that are much better and fresher and probably not much more expensive or maybe even cheaper.

A progressive friend of mine posted on Facebook that ICE pulled his friends over on their way to work, looked at their IDs, and then let them go. The comments were flooded with people screaming about how racist and oppressive it was and called for people to vote for Democrats.
I moved out of that community after nearly 40 years because it felt like the white progressives that lived there were more focused on protecting criminals than they were about making sure the drug dealers and human traffickers were held accountable. It's surreal to watch.
If your church says homosexuality and abortion are sins, but you are forgiven if you accept Jesus as your Savior, it's probably a decent church.
If your church says the Bible doesn't condemn homosexuality or abortion, you don't go to a church, you go to a social club.
I made a decision to take my son to see Wildwood last night rather than watch the Chiefs vs Seahawks, and that turned out to be an excellent choice.
Wildwood is possibly the most impressive animated film ever made. Laika has pushed the boundaries to new levels. Simply amazing.

The solution to bringing down the price of diesel is not to vote for the party that supports transitioning America off fossil fuels entirely.

If Donald Trump's story doesn't inspire you, I don't know what will. The man is the epitome of perseverance, resilience, and success. Knocked down countless times, yet he keeps getting back up. His determination is nothing short of extraordinary.
