Marco Rubio preparing for the inevitable yearning after the official US Government acknowledgement of Malfoid:

Fellow Americans,
The Japanese are making delicious soups (imoni, taro root with meat) with specialized excavators. Why aren't we innovating on giant chilis and chowders via this method? This should be at some state fair or a food eating competition.

People keep talking about Malfoid and wholesome romance for men...
The success or failure of this as a genre would not not depend on whether or not they write a good Malfoid...but whether or not they let Harry actually be a man.

It is DONE. The next video of War vet McGonagall and America wizard. She knew that convincing dumbledore to get a dreadnought battleship was good. I like the idea of magic enhanced Muggle weaponry. Best of both worlds. Now back to the Year 2 Opening.
Whoever gave the name Lyra (@libertypat4c was the earliest I've found) to Malfoid had an inspired stroke of nominative genius. What it loses in phonetic similarity to Draco (Dracaena, Drasna, Draconia), it gains in rich symbolism.
1) Draco, through his mother's side, is related to the Black family, which has a long history of using constellations and stars as given names. The constellation Lyra (the Lyre) is located immediately next to Draco (the Dragon), to Draco's south.
2) Lucius means "light". The constellation Lyra has the fifth brightest star in the sky, Vega, which was 14000 years ago the actual North Star in the sky due to the precession of the equinoxes. Vega is the brightest star that's held the role at a magnitude of 0.03, compared to Polaris (current North Star) at 1.98. Lucius would definitely want his daughter to have an elegant, refined name with classical elements. Lyra fits the bill nicely, giving a lyrical (pun intended) feel.
3) Lyra (sounds like liar) is the daughter of Narcissa (Narcissus/narcissist). We have a heads-up that she will deceive others in some way during the story, and that's definitely the case in book 6 for Draco.
4) What's the first thing that Draco did when he and Harry learned the other's identity on the Hogwarts Express? He tried to charm him into friendship. Lyra, the lyre of Orpheus, was used to charm anything and everything, even rocks. We'll overlook the fact that Draco failed; the attempt is what matters.
5) Moving to Western astrological references, each of the four Hogwarts houses corresponds neatly to a fixed sign, using elemental assignments from Rowling herself - Slytherin is Scorpio (water), Ravenclaw is Aquarius (air), Hufflepuff Taurus (earth), and Gryffindor Leo (fire). Scorpio rules over the eighth house of death. Draco's son is named Scorpius.
The constellation Lyra has also been seen by the Arabs as a diving/swooping eagle. Scorpio is typically represented by a scorpion, but it is also associated with eagles, snakes, and the mythological Phoenix (death, resurrection).
Prediction on the proposed extension of Daylight Saving Time by the United States House:
If the Senate passes permanent DST (and that's not a guarantee), we will vote to go back to our current system (4 months Standard Time, 8 months DST) no later than May of 2027, and we will not have enough sense to go to permanent standard time.
We might be lucky enough to vote as such in January 2027 after Christmas, but the damage will have been done. We will see a sudden rise in cumulative deaths for Winter 2027 that we will blame on everything except for having to get up too early relative to solar noon for our local area. We will not notice that the deaths will cluster on the west sides of time zones.
We will likely repeat this experiment in 2078 (long enough for only the 90s and 00s kids to remember this failure), in this exact fashion, and fail again.
Instead of permanent Daylight Saving Time, I would like to propose that the United States has permanent Nighttime Enhancement Time. We roll back the clocks so that solar noon is at 11am, and thus nighttime begins earlier. This maximizes daylight hours in the morning for the early birds so they can maximize their gardening and gym times, and allows night owls maximum time to socialize before drifting off to bed at a delightfully early midnight (formerly 1 am).
Kids can go to bed early, giving parents valuable bonding time and more opportunities to grow their families. Adults of all ages can enjoy evening activities indoors, encouraging the development of third spaces like bars, theaters, and dance halls again. Booksellers will experience booms from more people having time to read before bedtime. Streaming companies will flourish.
What say you, Congress?

"Pokemon" is short for "pocket monsters".
"Digimon" is short for "digital monsters".
Therefore, "salmon" is short for "saltwater monsters".
(You might object: salmon spend a big part of their life in freshwater. But pokemon spend a big part of their life outside pockets too!)

If America beats Bosnia and Herzegovina in tonight's World Cup game, tomorrow we will sell our jars of grass-fed or Wagyu cooking oil for 25 cents each — one per customer, while supplies last. This cooking oil can be used for eggs or steak, and it has a high smoke point.

George Martin is not a fantasy writer.
He is a fantasy unwriter.
Because the amount of fantasy literature he destroyed is far greater than the amount he created.
Observation from Toy Story 5 (no major spoilers):
For Toy Story 5 families, the maximum number of pregnancies is capped at *one*. The most kids was a family of one pair of twins.
If children don't observe big families, they never dream of them.

My dumb idea of the day:
We should establish something like birthstones, but for men.
Instead of each month getting a gemstone, each month gets assigned a cut of meat.
January: New York Strip
February: Filet Mignon
March: Porterhouse
And so on.
You’d ask a guy his birthday and instead of saying, “Oh, you’re an amethyst,” you’d say, “Ah, February. Filet Mignon. Sensitive, expensive, and a little smaller than expected.”
I can hear the commercials already
“Celebrate his birth month with the timeless elegance of brisket.”
