Everyone is kind of freaking out right now, so I think I will start a thread of quotes from Republicans saying that the election will be fair, votes will be counted, and the person with the most votes will be the next president (a thread)

This is a small proportion of the US population, never mind the world. Is there any discussion about how this will be allocated? Price, risk, first come first serve,...?

This is an amazing thread. I am not a physician so I don’t know what any of these are used for. I just think it is really interesting.
A few meds I've used over the years that I am not sure actually do anything: Topical capsaicin Docusate Carafate Wanna argue about those or add anything else to the list?
Angry that media and Democrats use evidence.
How odd that as soon as some red/purple states begin reopening without seeing dramatic spikes, Democrats and the media (redundant, sorry) immediately shift to "you know, reopening is a good idea, we should weigh risks and rewards" rather than "YOU WANT TO KILL GRANDMA!1!!1!"
The decrease in year-over-year @OpenTable reservations in Canada doesn't seem to be affected by the risk of COVID. March 12 all provinces restricted gatherings to less than 250, dine in services were prohibited March 21 or after.
A congratulations and sad goodbye to one of our executive members and one of the Institute’s biggest champions—Dr. Brenda Hemmelgarn. Much of the Institute’s success stems from her leadership and support. blog.ualberta.ca/announcemen…

Ill-informed bashing of economics can change how policy is made. It gives politicians freedom to make policy without being accountable to the facts. We are heading dangerously close to surrender to special interest groups, gut feelings & superstitions prospectmagazine.co.uk/econo…

Great post about ensuring health economic standards for clinical value frameworks, the opportunity costs of accelerated approval and sticking to our principles.

I think of it as treatments that leave patients at lower quality of life are worth less.
ICER starts from the premise that a patient living with cancer is worth less than a healthy patient. #ICERWatch icerwatch.org/icer-insurance…

Probably worth a re-read of Alan Williams’ seminal piece, jme.bmj.com/content/medeth…, after which I look forward to an outline of your preferred process and methods for resource allocation in health care.

@benconomics I am wondering if you could suggest some good papers that use drug seizures as controls in a model. I have data on the number of fentanyl seizures, the number of pills and grams, each month and by city. 1/2

I was thinking of using this as a measure of drug availability, but am aware that many other factors affect seizures. Any suggestions? 2/2
If you are not in Calgary you can join online. I am talking about how we are trying to estimate a cost-effectiveness threshold using the marginal productivity of cancer care in Alberta.
