Brazilians have reportedly been spending 6.5% more on staple foods since sports betting was banned in the country.
A month ago, Lula signed an order banning fixed-odds sports betting, a move he said was designed to tackle the problem of families falling into debt.
Now the President of the Brazilian Supermarket Association says that since the ban, sales of essential foods such as rice, oil, coffee, and noodles have grown by 6.5%.

have been in my head about my home improvement skills or lack thereof when my dad was so good at it. should have paid more attention when he was trying to teach me. but i've been doing up the nursery and it's turned out i'm not bad at it.
and anyways my dad's good at home improvement but my grandpa can't change a lightbulb, which means my dad must have been mostly self taught, and if he could do it in the age of books and home improvement shows i can do it with the internet.
my mom homeschooled three children, two of them special needs, specifically so that she could teach us a wacky religious thing (young earth creationism) that nobody, not even my mom, still believes in. just a massive own goal for no reason at all.

i literally just boiled water in my electric kettle for coffee and found that it took a very reasonable amount of time. maybe UK electric kettles are quicker but the real reason is bc not many people in the US drink hot tea and most coffee drinkers use a machine.
