Roberto De Zerbi has revealed in a recent interview that he wasn't happy with Tottenham decision to sell Djed Spence to Inter Milan.
Reporter: Roberto, were you in favour of Djed Spence leaving Tottenham for Inter?
De Zerbi: “No. I was not happy with that decision, and I made my feelings clear. I didn’t believe it was the right move for the club or for the player.
Reporter: Why do you feel so strongly about it?
De Zerbi: “Because Tottenham are not a club that should be selling players simply because there is a profit to be made. With the status of Tottenham, the priority should be building a team capable of competing at the highest level — not looking at every player and asking how much money we can make from selling him.
Reporter: So you believe Spence should have stayed?
De Zerbi: “Absolutely. I believe Djed still had something to give. If you keep selling players whenever an attractive offer arrives, eventually you lose the sporting identity of the club. That is what frustrates me most.”
Reporter: Do you feel the club made the wrong decision?
De Zerbi: “Yes. Very clearly. I respect the club, but I don't have to pretend I'm happy with every decision. This one, I wasn't.”
