Mao Zedong is under any single social metric a dictator. Not a single popular election, single government party and lifetime leadership. Not even taking into account the millions of deaths under his reign.

i thought i deleted 94,000 photos from my iPhone over the last 3 years. Claude Code just found every single one of them sitting in a hidden cache that any app on my phone can read.
ran a backup audit on my MacBook. Claude Code flagged a directory called PhotoData/Thumbnails that should have been empty. it wasn't. it had 94,712 files going back to 2021. photos, videos, screenshots. everything i ever deleted.
the scariest part wasn't the number. it was what was in there:
→ passport photo i took for a visa in 2023
→ bank app screenshots with full account numbers
→ private photos i deleted within seconds after a breakup
→ crypto seed phrase i screenshotted "temporarily" in 2022
→ ID and credit card photo i took to remember the numbers
→ ex's private instagram stories i saved and "permanently deleted"
none of it was permanently deleted. iOS removes photos from your camera roll and your Recently Deleted folder but keeps a compressed copy in a Spotlight search cache so your phone can find images by text. Apple never wipes this cache. not after 30 days. not after a year. not ever.
i looked at which apps had access to this folder. 17 apps with Files and Folders permission. weather apps. QR scanners. free games. a calculator from 2021. every single one of them could read my "deleted" photos this entire time.
revoked 13 of them in about two minutes.
if you have iCloud on this cache syncs across every Apple device on your account. your iPad. your old iPhone you gave to someone.
the full step by step is below. takes 2 minutes. save it so you don't lose it and send it to anyone with an iPhone.

🚨BREAKING NEWS : Your "deleted" photos aren't deleted.
Claude Code found years of them sitting in a hidden cache on my iPhone.
I plugged my iPhone into my MacBook to run a backup. I had Claude Code doing a security check at the same time. It flagged something I wasn't looking for. A directory called PhotoData/Thumbnails.
Thousands of files. Photos, videos, screenshots. A lot of them were things I had deleted.
Photos from a couple of years ago. Screenshots I took and deleted a few seconds later. Stuff I went into Recently Deleted and cleared. Some of it was still sitting there.
What I found in that cache:
- old screenshots of banking apps
- photos I deleted right after taking them
- random pictures I didn't want on my phone anymore
- a few things I specifically remember deleting more than once
When you delete a photo on iPhone, iOS removes it from your camera roll and Recently Deleted folder. But it keeps a compressed copy in a Spotlight search cache so your phone can still find things when you search. That cache doesn't get fully cleared.
I checked which apps had Files and Folders access. There were more than I expected, including apps I downloaded a long time ago and forgot about. Any of them could potentially read files from that cache.
I went through the list and removed access from most of them.
The prompt I used is below. It doesn't take long if you already have a backup.
How many apps on your phone have Files access right now?

Sometimes fanbase rivalry makes us forget just how blessed this generation is to witness Nigerian music conquering the world.
Burna Boy presenting an award at the Ballon d’Or is no small achievement. That’s a Nigerian artist standing on one of football’s biggest global stages.
We can argue about our favourites all day, but history will remember what these artists collectively did for African music.
Give people their flowers while they’re here to receive them. Big respect to the African Giant. Afrobeats keeps winning! ❤️ 🇳🇬

I am selling rice for N1,000. Rice is essential for everyone to eat. Everyone is buying the rice. Suddenly a new producer comes and says rice is now N10,000. You complain and groan. He now goes “Ok I will give you loan so that you can afford the N10,000 rice”. You now jubilate and say “This man is trying. He cooked with that loan for me to be able to afford rice”
This is the tale of NELFUND.
