I'm Messi, and I have my own way of playing football. “Cristiano is already much closer to that historic milestone, and I have to be realistic about the situation. “He has maintained an incredible level of consistency throughout his career. “Scoring goals at that rate for so many years is something very few players can achieve. “I respect what Cristiano is doing, even though we have always had our own ambitions. “I'm not going to chase numbers just to compete with another player. “If he reaches 1,000 goals before me, then congratulations to him. He deserves it.”
