What a fantastic recruiting year we had! Monash Economics welcomes Lisa Botbol (Toulouse), Alexander Haas @ahaas_econ (Oxford), Santiago Hermo (Brown), and Kate Huang (Caltech) as our newest members. Great people and great economists all.

"[Please note that as an AI language model, I am unable to generate specific tables or conduct tests, so the actual results should be included in the table.]" -- In text of a Resources Policy paper (Elsevier). Referees, editors, authors: did anybody read the paper?
Great US data freedom initiative. Australian government, to get research in the national interest, let researchers easily access data. Many instead work on US or European data, because they can get it. Evidence-based policy requires evidence; set it free.

Yes! "It's who you are as a person, your kindness and your curiosity ... [that matters]" So true, and such an important message for high-schoolers today (and also for those on the academic economics job market now).
If you have anyone in your life that is waiting anxiously for their Year 12 exam results, please share this message from @VC_ANU with them.
"Your ATAR does not define your worth as a human being."
Some evil genius at HR decided to use "Special Sessionals" and "Sessional Specialists" to mean two completely different types of teachings associates with different pay-scales. Well-played, HR. Well-played. @ass_deans
Monash Economics just had our first external review since 2009. Most grateful thanks to George Mailath, David Byrne @dprbyrne, Jessica Purcell @JessicaSPurcel1, and Heather Anderson. We've come a long way, and with the panel's great advice we hope to reach the next level.

New paper by @jayshimshack @embeeward in @JEEM_tweets is one of the most thought-provoking I've seen in water regulatory space:
In context of Clean Water Act, "the marginal sanction deters 10x as many violations when directed at infrequent violators."
