just in the "developing taste" conversation, Belle de Jour was really important to me as the first old movie I watched pretty devoid of my parents' influence.
blessed with parents who love old movies, but that made all of us just more culturally literate than our peers. watching Belle de Jour, devoid of context of an adult recommending it to me, felt like a real watershed moment! my sliding doors moment of cinephilia.........
