South Australians have long known Adelaide is one of the best places in the world to live.
Now it’s official.
Adelaide has been ranked the 8th most liveable city in the world out of 173 cities in @TheEconomist Intelligence Unit’s 2026 Global Liveability Index.
That’s up from ninth in 2025, and an extraordinary rise from 30th just three years ago.
That’s something we all should be proud of.
As we continue to work to make our state an even better place to live, work, visit and invest in.

The first instalment of Mali’s Meat Tray ✅
What better way to hear from South Australians than a good old-fashion meat tray at the pub, all for a great cause in @VinniesSA.
Thanks to the Woodcroft Hotel for having me and to all the local legends that stopped for a chat and a laugh.
Where should we head to next?

The Australian Open is a must see golf event on the Australian sporting calendar.
And now, it’s coming to South Australia.
It has only ventured out of New South Wales or Victoria twice in half a century.
For some time, we have been engaged with Golf Australia discussing the potential of bringing both the men’s and women’s Australian Opens to Adelaide.
We are thrilled to make this a reality, at a high quality public facility on the doorstep of our city in North Adelaide.
