Every Dem is using a sophisticated model called “PTSD” that subtracts 5 points from every red state Dem and 10 for Maine and South Carolina
This has turned into kind of a weird election. And this is just based on social media, not any reporting. But based on vibes from Republicans, you'd expect Democrats to end up with 55 Senate seats. But based on the vibes from Democrats, you'd expect 50.500001.

I received the poll testing the ad featuring Amy Acton’s estranged mother calling her daughter a "liar." Comes from the polling firm Dynata. Before showing the ad, the poll asks whether it's true Acton was sexually abused and lived in a tent as a child. Then the ad plays twice.

I‘ll stop posting timelapses of the aurora from the @Space_Station when I’m tired of looking at them . . . so basically never! Another unforgettable display of this ethereal phenomenon as it danced beneath us last night, this one even more special as it was shared with @astro_anil, as he witnessed it for the first time with such intensity. The red wavelengths (above the green) were particularly bright in this pass.

Just awful numbers for the war in Iran: 1) More Republicans call the war a net-negative than a net-positive. 2) Just 39% of Republicans -- and 16% overall -- say we're winning or have won the war.

fortunately US didn't elect a woman president to prattle on cluelessly about interior decorating in a time of war; if so, calls for her impeachment would be immediate.
Trump during a press conference on Iran: “See that nice drape?…In about 1.5 years you’re gonna see a very very beautiful building...I picked those drapes. I always liked gold. I believe it will be the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world”

Paramount should enjoy its growing news monopoly while they have it because when Democrats win back power we are going to break up these anti-democratic information conglomerates. All of them.

How weak and pathetic do you have to be to be this scared of a fireside chat?

“Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed.” Trump actually said this. This might be one of the stupidest things he’s ever said and a true Hall of Fame entry.

AI research must be protected from military misuse. It’s clear that Frankenstein’s military monster has left the lab and, unless humanity heeds Zelensky and AI experts, the next world war may not be fought by humans at all … But humans will certainly be its victims. open.substack.com/pub/dianef…

The indictment appears to attribute to Comey words he never uttered. In answering Sen. Cruz, Comey said he stood by his 2017 testimony. He did not say in the 2020 hearing that he had not “authorized someone else at the FBI to be an anonymous source in news reports.”

Summary of Trump’s speech to the UN today: 1. Your countries all suck. 2. None of you know what you are doing. 3. The US is better at everything. 4. All because of me. 5. I’m right about everything. 6. You should listen to me & do what I say. 7. And give me lots of awards.

James Garfield was shot by a man who firmly believed he was owed a job for helping Garfield win the election (a thing that he did not do.) Ronald Reagan was shot by a man who was trying to impress a teenaged actress.
It is not crazy to suspect that some politically salient person or place was attacked for political reasons. But reality is often weirder than that, so it *is* crazy to jump to conclusions.
