Magnitude’s withdrawal from the Breeders’ Cup Classic followed a PET scan revealing disruption in the fibres of his left fore suspensory ligament. As illustrated in the accompanying reference image, PET technology detects abnormal metabolic activity in tissues, helping identify potential injuries that may not be apparent through conventional imaging. A valuable tool in modern equine sports medicine, where prevention comes first.
