New @defidecodedpod is out!
I've been looking forward to this conversation with @ddebow for a long time.
Dan is one of Canada's most prolific entrepreneurs, investors and thinkers, with a hand in some of the country's biggest tech success stories.
He's been called the "Forrest Gump" of Canadian tech because whenever something big happens, he seems to be in the room.
But I think he's more like Quincy Jones: bringing the right people together and helping them create something none could have built alone.
Dan co-founded Workbrain, Rypple (acquired by Salesforce) and Helpful (acquired by Shopify, where he spent six years).
He's also one of Canada's most active angel investors, with early cheques in more than 50 companies, including Wealthsimple, Clio, SkipTheDishes and Dominion Dynamics.
Today, as founder and chair of @buildcanada where he's helping shape the debate about Canada's economic future with a pro-growth agenda focused on backing builders and unlocking our country's potential.
And his latest venture, Debow Musical Instruments, brings together his talent for building businesses and his lifelong love of music. Its first product, Torch, is a new electronic instrument designed to make playing music more accessible and bring families together.
A fascinating, wide-ranging conversation.
Don't miss it!

Coinbase is safe and secure.
We’re actively monitoring the Binance situation, and have reached out to their team to offer our support.
This will be hard to enforce. Agent traffic looks a lot like a human's.
If banks want agents out, the alternative is open banking, but Canada's regime is read-only and still not live. Move faster.
RBC bars personal AI agents from accessing online banking, other digital properties theglobeandmail.com/business…

Cool to see the @coinbase team bringing Deribit into the fold, with US + global derivatives in one regulated liquidity pool
Not yet available in Canada, but we’re focused on expanding access here, within Canada’s regulatory framework

We've been busy.
→ Deribit, the world's largest crypto options exchange, is now part of Coinbase
→ Soon, a first: US + global derivatives in one regulated liquidity pool
→ Next: options, spot margin + unified portfolios
And Coinbase Pro returns later this year.

That means instant stablecoin acceptance for institutions - all on bank-grade, regulated infrastructure.
The next step for stablecoins becoming everyday money.

Canada has the ingredients to lead in digital assets on the global stage and needs builders, crypto platforms, traditional finance, founders and regulators to work together
Great morning at @nrthtechCA (formerly Elevate) today!
I joined @clabrow of @the_logic to talk about the future of Canadian crypto, from clearer regulations to what we’re building next at @coinbase, and why trust is the foundation for bringing all of this to Canadians.
NEW: Automated ridehailing could add $1.34B to Canada’s GDP and support 14,000+ jobs by 2050. Canada has the ingredients to compete. The next step is creating a clear path from AV pilots to commercial service across the country. progresschamber.org/research…
