This World Series photo is one of the best sports photos I have ever seen, but the process behind how it was captured might be even more interesting. No, it wasn't done with AI or a drone. Here's what you need to know... Mike Carlson and Carmen Mandato took this photo, and Carlson broke down the process on Instagram. He says they go up on the catwalk before games to install a series of cameras mounted in different positions — looking at home plate, the mound, etc. But since photographers can't sit on the catwalk during games (and also have to take other photos), Carlson and Mandato install a trigger to help take photos remotely. The way it works is simple: When Carlson and Mandato take photos with their handheld camera in the outfield, the catwalk camera also takes a photo. The catwalk camera is also connected to a network, so it automatically sends the photo to an editor. This is similar to the process NBA photographers use to get those popular "spotlight effect" photos. But instead of mounting their camera on a catwalk in the arena, NBA photographers use a trigger to activate the strobe lights most NBA arenas have installed in the rafters. Most people never notice the strobe light going off, but once you do, you'll notice it every time. Super interesting.

From @TheAthletic: The Kansas City Chiefs are the NFL franchise that provides cover for violent abusers, repeat offenders, and now, because they need someone to make a field goal, an unrepentant sleazeball, our columnist writes. It’s always the Chiefs. nyti.ms/4A4roRW

The season 8 finale of @netflix The Diplomat was one of the best endings I’ve ever seen in a series. Can’t wait for season 5. Just go ahead give them all the awards 🏆 starting with the writers. Wow!!!!

Hi @Apple, make the “Delete & Report Spam” button work so political texts would go away. This is the 4th one this morning & it's always from a different number. I can't wait for elections to be over so I can get back to seeing regular spam texts about erectile dysfunction 1/2

BAM! 💥 Tough break today for an Arizona Cardinals social media photographer who got blasted by Bam Knight destroying his @Sony A7 and 70-200 lens. Props as he was back out on field minutes later with a backup camera 💪 #photogproblems 📸 @rebilasphoto

Any @Lions fans at the game? If you buy @Eminem's S’ghetti Sandwich at @fordfield let me know how was? 🍝 Looks like something I'd make at home for a snack after high school & before dinner, slapping my "mom's spaghetti" on it w/ 2 slices of toasted bread 😄 @freep @freepsports

A decade ago, I interviewed Abdul El-Sayed for a story I wrote about boxer Muhammad Ali after he died, how he impacted Muslim-Americans. El-Sayed traveled to Kentucky for his funeral. "I've never been so emotional about the passing of an icon or celebrity. No icon whose life with which mine overlapped has done more to empower me," El-Sayed told me. "He was my mind's answer to all the times I was told 'You can't because ... '  Here was this Muslim minority — a guy who looked different and had a weird name — who had the rare combination of a remarkable set of skills and the sheer grit and courage to believe both in himself and in a set of values to which he held unshakably, regardless the consequences." freep.com/story/news/obituar…

Caught you, ya thief! First time seeing one of our cats, Bailey, eating dog food out of Baxter bowl this afternoon. So weird! Bailey and Bash get dry food in the morning, wet food in the evening, maybe she’s expanding her food palate? 🤷🏾

⏰ On Sunday wind the clocks back 1 hour. For Bob Stewart, 71, of The Clock Specialist in Royal Oak, winding clocks is what he does daily, 6 days a week in his small repair shop. He's been repairing clocks for over 50 years... 🧵1/3 📸’s by @ericseals of @freep 📝 by @fwitsil
