99% of Allegheny County businesses are considered small businesses. A full 99%. Even reducing a paid leave mandate from 18 weeks to 12 weeks only shortens the timeline it does not eliminate the structural and operational threat for a small business. 12 weeks is an operational eternity that severely disrupts things like cash flow, service delivery, and team morale it also can cost a small business when you factor in the absent worker's pay and the cost of coverage. A lot of small businesses operate on very slim margins & this can wipe out an entire quarter’s profit. How do I know that? I asked them. How any county council member or @Innamo thinks this is good leadership or governing is laughable.
