My bf and I talk a lot about how our algorithms are different and how he never sees things like the sexual assault headlines coming out of San Francisco, he never sees tech twitter women sharing their stories of workplace harassment, and he won’t see the Cornell 7 headlines either because men’s algorithms are built different.
It’s horrifying that this heinous assault was so normalized for those men, that they posted to a group chat with 57 other men without fear of consequence.
Im reminded weekly that this system is not designed for women, that the authorities are not on your side, that it is on the broader community to uphold social contracts.
I believe a system that protects women, mothers, and young girls is possible and it starts with men talking to other men, intervening when men are doing harm, with men holding each other accountable when no one else is there.
With 60% of my audience being men, I hope this reaches you and that you’re emboldened to act.
