EXCLUSIVE: “Donnie Darko” director Richard Kelly has written a book sequel to the 2001 cult classic, set to hit shelves later this year:
• Titled “The Philosophy of Time Travel,” the 800-page novel takes place in 1988, immediately after the events of the original film
• Kelly says he hopes to adapt the novel into an animated/motion-capture movie before continuing the story with a live-action project that jumps 28 years into the future
• “This section of the sequel would be animation and then, in theory, should it happen, there would be a gigantic time jump of 28 years or so, and where the actors, should they want to play their roles live and in the flesh, that would be wonderful, too,” Kelly tells Variety. “So we'll see what happens.”

Everybody loves @MarkKnopfler.
It's worth thinking about why. It only starts with the fact that he's an amazing guitarist and songwriter who's been pouring his soul into recordings for nearly 50 years.
I think it's because he's not fake, doesn't project a huge ego, and doesn't posture as anything he isn't. With Mark, what you see is what you get - closely observed slices of life through a lyrical and bluesy sensibility. There's an understated soulfulness about him that is deeply tasteful.
He's all about the music. And the music is beautiful.
Thank you, Mark, from all of us for whom your work has been an important part of the soundtrack of our lives. You're a good man, and it shows.
Do the simulation theory believers think that the simulation is just for them or that we're all equal participants?
If one grants them their premises, the former would be far more likely. Are they mostly just basic narcissists?
I appreciate Claude mainly because it does basic searches much better than Google ever did.
A functioning consumer-oriented market for search could have done this more than a decade ago if Google hadn't monopolized things and sold us out to marketers.

Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, and the Google people really fucked things up for tech.
Completely alienated the natural allies of capitalism and meritocracy that underpins technical progress.
They have a lot of work to do to make things right.
If I'm not mistaken the state of Texas can unilaterally decide to stop observing DST. No act of congress needed.
Then if we want to "make DST permanent" we can petition the Department of Transportation to move to the eastern time zone.

This doesn't seem to affect the hidden agenda software developed by the biggest Californian companies.
I'm sure Google, Apple, and FB are happy to punish any developers who want an honest relationship with their customers.

OK, I'm finally starting to kinda like Claude.
The key for me was to never allow it to write code. It's kinda decent at finding bugs and pointing out mistakes in the code that I write. Saves me time; would save even more time if it were faster.
I'm delighted see increasing use of the term "FOSS" and even "Libre" to describe open source software with no commercial restrictions. I feel that this is the right way.
We at FUTO are very happy to co-exist with organizations who advocate this model, even while we aggressively pursue open source software with strong proprietorship and commercial protections for the proprietor.
We don't want the best engineering talent in the world to be begging for "donations" simply because they want their project to be open source software.
We welcome and encourage all of our customers to inspect and even modify the program memory of our products. @FUTO_Tech
