Proud to share that CCFI researcher Dr @GargVanika has received the Mid-Career Research Award at this year’s @MurdochUni Vice Chancellor's Excellence in Research Awards.
Since joining Murdoch University in 2022, Vanika has led major research initiatives, including the first Australian chickpea pangenome and has contributed to securing multiple competitive grants. Through her dedicated research efforts, strong science communication, and mentoring of our early career researchers, she has consistently exemplified research excellence that delivers real-world impact.

Great to see one of our leading researchers, Dr @GargVanika, featured by @MurdochUni, the @couriermail and the @geelongaddy for her work on super-pangenomes.
In the article Dr Garg suggests that by building and analysing the ‘family tree’ of each crop to determine which genes are responsible for disease resilience and heat tolerance, we can help farmers combat new diseases and withstand changing weather patterns.
