I submit that it would take AT LEAST a decade for the US to ramp up to the point of being able to produce at equivalent scale a missile inventory comparable to that currently fielded by Russia, China, and even Iran.
And, by then, those countries will have advanced even further.

i love nature docs & i recently came across one that hit me super hard. turns out the labords chameleon’s life cycle is extremely short. they live only 4-5 months & immediately die after laying & burying their eggs (which is their only purpose)z
in the final moments their nervous system begins to fail as their brain loses control of skin cells, so random nerve firings cause the skin to randomly change colors which causes a ridiculous art as they slowly die. it’s like sort of a visualization of the brain’s final flickerings.

Looks increasingly as though Tehran waited until the point of greatest midterm impact (and therefore political pressure) to activate the Houthis and Iraqi Shia militias. This seems like the most parsimonious answer to "why now?"
