This is really poor by @FA. The governing body is supposed to protect players. It should be disputing this regulatory commission verdict by members drawn from the FA judicial panel. Max Dowman could have suffered a bad injury to his standing leg from a dangerous challenge which went unpunished. Arsenal 16-year-old shouldn’t have reacted but his frustration was understandable. Some other players might have rolled around and ensured a bad challenge was punished. Dowman didn’t. He doesn’t stay down. The FA should have shown some understanding towards Dowman. Instead, it has suspended him for three games. FA priorities all wrong: tolerating a poor challenge and some weak refereeing but punishing a kid who objected to a bad challenge that could have dealt him a serious injury. Protect players. #AFC

Ra’am leader Mansour Abbas tells Channel 16 his priority is replacing Netanyahu’s government. Asked whether he would meet Eisenkot’s conditions, he says first establish whether a viable government can be formed, then discuss the details. Pressed to call Hamas a terrorist organization, Abbas points to his repeated condemnations of Hamas and attacks, and stresses Ra’am’s respect for the law and place in Israeli politics.

The biggest winners in the Israeli exit polls are the two Arab-Israeli parties, which appear to have scored far above expectations. The most optimistic polls suggested they would gain 14 to 15 seats, but the exit polls put them at 17 to 18. The surge is partly explained by massive turnout among Arab-Israelis, but also support from young Left-wing Israelis, many of whom appear to have supported the Left-wing Arab Joint List over the Democrats. With the Arab-Israeli parties, there is a large majority for the opposition bloc – far exceeding the 61 seats needed to form a government. But the opposition bloc must now decide whether or not to team up with them, perhaps abandoning some of its members if it is to do so. In the past, Zionist parties, including Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud, have entertained joining with the Arab-Israeli parties to form a government. They may also face considerable democratic pressure to do so as the two Arab-Israeli parties clearly represent more than 20 per cent of the country’s population. Yousef Jabareen, the chairman of the Joint List, responded to the exit polls, saying that it “cannot be ignored under any political scenario”. “We said we would be a safety net for our public on the urgent issues facing our community – violence and crime, the demolition of homes and entire villages in the Negev, racism in all areas of life, the lack of housing projects and industrial zones, and physical attacks on young Arab men almost every day,” he added.

Harsh on Dowman but he gave the ref a decision to make with his petulant flick out.

The Ramaswamy ad has pushed the largest newspaper in Ohio, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, to reverse its position on endorsements. "A candidate who uses childhood sexual abuse as a weapon against the person who endured it has crossed a line that Ohioans should defend, whatever their party.  We are better than this. We have a responsibility to show it. Today we endorse Democrat Amy Acton for governor." cleveland.com/open/2026/10/w…

EL-SAYED: I get that the President takes personal offense to my first name. He doesn't mind as much when it's the Saudis who are funding his son-in-law's private equity. Doesn't seem to mind as much when it's the Qataris who are giving them a $400 million private jet. He just seems to have trouble pronouncing it when it's my name.  I don't care how he pronounces my name. I don't even care that he remembers my whole name. Because he can just go on and call me senator after November.

Final surveys from public broadcaster KAN and major networks project Netanyahu's right-wing/ultra-Orthodox coalition will secure 50 seats. His Likud party is facing a strong challenge and could potentially finish second behind the main opposition party. The Opposition Alliance: The centrist and right-wing anti-Netanyahu opposition bloc, anchored by retired military chief Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party, is projected to win 52-56 seats. Arab-Majority Parties: Main uncommitted lists, such as Ra'am and the Joint List, are projected to capture the remaining 13-14 seats, making them potential kingmakers if voter turnout exceeds expectations. Benjamin Netanyahu (Likud): Relying on far-right ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, Netanyahu seeks re-election while navigating an ongoing domestic corruption trial and deep scrutiny over the security failures of October 7. Gadi Eisenkot (Yashar): The former army chief has emerged as Netanyahu's primary challenger, leading several popularity polls for suitability as Prime Minister, though he has ruled out joining any coalition with Netanyahu. Other Opposition Leaders: Former Prime Ministers Yair Lapid and Naftali Bennett, along with Avigdor Liberman, remain prominent figures within the fragmented anti-Netanyahu bloc. What Happens Next? Because seats are allocated strictly via proportional representation, the conclusion of voting tonight is only the beginning. The President of Israel will assign the mandate to form a government to the lawmaker deemed most capable of piecing together a majority. If post-election negotiations stall, Israel risks a political deadlock, a vulnerable minority government, or another swift round of elections.

Top European luxury groups have shed about €250bn of market value this year as spending by Chinese consumers wilts and AI-driven stock market wobbles depress demand for high-end shoes and handbags. Results from LVMH, Hermès and Gucci owner Kering this month all missed market expectations that had already been cut significantly, confirming fears that the luxury industry remains in the grip of a multiyear downturn. Europe’s six largest listed luxury companies — which also include Richemont, Prada and Moncler — have collectively lost €251bn of market value this year. The declines have been steepest at LVMH and Hermès, the two largest luxury groups, whose market capitalisations have shrunk by €131.6bn and €93.3bn respectively. ft.com/content/1c3065cf-538f…
