Every year in the United States, >600000 individuals have a first ischemic stroke and approximately 200000 more have a recurrent stroke. This guideline aims to incorporate this updated evidence in order to provide an up-to-date, comprehensive set of recommendations for the acute evaluation and management of patients with AIS. ✍🏼 @annealexandrov @AlexandraCzap @OanaDumitrascu5Koto @ashupjadhav @BarrowNeuro @SVINjournal @PoojaKhatriMD @wtkimberly @brianmacgrory @tmadsenem @eva_mistry @natperezossa @strokemaven @PSporns @stavtjoumakaris @WFNeurosurgery @shadiyaghi2

Thank you, @NAsdaghi! You are an amazing host! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with such clarity. I’m a #strokealert podcast convert!
A pleasure @eva_mistry to co-host the annual #RalphSacco review of top cerebrovascular research — and lots of learning along the way. We covered @CREST2_Study, extended-window thrombolysis, and the latest on adjunctive antithrombotic therapy to reperfusion #strokealertpodcast

In today’s episode of "In the Interim...", Dr. Scott Berry is joined by Dr. Eva Mistry and Dr. Jordan Elm to explore the details and major benefits of the STEP platform trial. STEP uses a master protocol within NIH StrokeNet to examine multiple questions on improving outcomes in acute ischemic stroke. STEP’s adaptive platform enables multiple questions to be addressed simultaneously across domains, utilizing multifactorial experiments, sharing of controls within domains, and sharing a common infrastructure to improve outcomes and efficiency of learning. As new evidence emerges—internally or from external trials—domains and eligibility criteria can be modified, maintaining trial relevance and efficiency. @eva_mistry at #SVIN24 on PRO side of IVT/EVT in pts with pre-existing disability. 👩‍🦽large, heterogenous group of pts to exclude ☢️No biological basis for inefficacy 🚫No convincing evidence for inefficacy (although mortality increase) 😕excl from RCT for unrelated reasons.

48% of patients/families think mRS 3 is reasonable outcome after thrombectomy. 26% consider mRS 4 acceptable. Time to rethink "mRS 0-2 = good outcome" dogma @USFNeurosurgery @ElliotPressman @ShailThankiMD @ShahidNimjee @eva_mistry @AmeerEHassan @KunalVakhariaMD @WaldoGuerrero82
