Missing Man Located Through EWU's DivasAI Platform We have an important update to share. One of our DivasAI users has located Ryan Jeremy Carter Laxague, and law enforcement has now positively identified him. Sadly, Ryan was found deceased. After Ryan went missing near Jumbo Grade in Washoe Valley, Nevada, on September 2nd, 2025, we launched a search effort through DivasAI, a platform developed by our team at EWU to assist in real-world missing persons searches. EWU's search team spent a month on-the-ground capturing 30,000+ drone photos of the area. Volunteers from across the world then joined in, helping us search a vast area in record time: scanning, tagging, and reviewing every frame. That collective effort led to this discovery. We want to extend a special thank you to 775 Offroad & Recovery, a non-profit community, who generously shared their detailed search maps. We also want to acknowledge Ryan's mother, who provided important information and context that helped guide the search, and whose strength through all of this has been deeply felt by everyone involved. We're also grateful to Ryan's friends and family who shared insights that helped narrow our search. While this search has concluded, DivasAI continues to support new and ongoing missing person cases. Two 14-year-old boys became trapped after a sand tunnel they were digging suddenly collapsed. Cell phone footage showed the boys playing unsupervised and building elaborate tunnels in the sand moments before disaster struck. Police and first responders frantically dug through the sand as the boys' parents stood nearby.

EWU Media Funded DNA Testing That Helped Crack 1984 Cold Case On April 22, 2026, the Massac County State’s Attorney’s Office charged 76-year-old George E. Bradfield of Owensboro, Kentucky, with five counts of murder in the 1984 killing of Lisa Ann Carnes. After more than 42 years, this is a major step toward justice for Lisa and her family. EWU Media funded the DNA testing that assisted law enforcement in the investigation leading to the arrest. Lisa Ann Carnes was 26 years old when her body was found in a rural Massac County field on March 30, 1984. She died from a single gunshot wound. Our thoughts remain with her family, loved ones, and the entire community as the case moves forward.

This horrifying video shows how a routine school field trip ended in amputation. On March 29th, 2025, bus driver Angela Fitzgerald crashed into a guardrail on I-96 in Michigan while carrying Grand Rapids Civic Theatre students. Blood tests revealed THC and Lorazepam in her system. One teen, Emma, lost her foot; another suffered a concussion aggravating prior brain surgery. Footage shows Fitzgerald's eyes closed before impact, not braking until seconds before the crash at 68 mph. She pleaded no contest to OWI charges in Dec 2025; sentencing is currently pending.
