im so glad philosophy discussion is past the "dude .. deleuze is so incomprehensible.. lacan is like, obscurantist or whatever.. hegel is so hard to read loll >_<" as if philosophy as a field is some sort of esoteric mysticism for unemployed people that only initiates understand
A palhaçada rousseauniana é expurgada, Marx
You want a pause on advanced AI, regulation of the industry, and a ban on superintelligence.
China just read this post and started celebrating.
Every day America pauses, they build. Every regulation you pass, they skip. Every ban you propose, they treat as a head start.
You are not protecting the country. You are handing the most powerful technology in human history to the one nation you cannot regulate.

~70% of people use AI every week.
~70% of people voted to ban data centers where it was on the ballot
makes you wonder.

Voters thought fighting data centers would stop AI from taking their jobs.
Meanwhile China has their own AI hardware supply chain, several of the world's top AI labs, and is building massive amounts of nuclear and renewable power.
There is no stopping this train.

Seriously good, if true, because of all the terrible things they want to do, this is by far the most comically impractical, and will destroy them. nitter.cf/RepYassAnsari/status/2…

AI progress won’t be stopped. On the other side of the Singularity/bridge, people won’t even remember the brief saga of the “data center drama.”
Anyone who does, will think it was extremely silly.
The only thing that matters is working on developing ASI.
ASI will solve aging by helping us fully understand biology and developing aging reversal technology.
After that, we’ll have time to figure everything else out, solve all the other problems, and build whatever we want.
All the other stuff is noise.
