I understand the intent, but you cannot call me “Mr. Webster” to imply that I am an annoying nerd. That is my actual last name, though I am not related to Noah and his dictionary,

Phenomenal gag to do a “there’s no modern equivalent to the Great Literature of Yore” post and completely ignore Faulkner, Joyce, and Woolf in favor of Sherlock Holmes
Novels in the first 26 years of the 20th century: The Metamorphosis, The Great Gatsby, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Siddhartha, The Sun Also Rises Novels in the first 26 years of the 21st century: ???

Very funny that one of the founders of Substack has written a book called “how to save the media” because I bet I know what you’re going to suggest lol

My lawyers are advising me not to dress up as the Table for Fortune boxed set on Halloween even though it would it be extremely easy to do and would be a slam dunk in certain circles

I am always leaving myself very helpful notes and suggestions like “this should be smarter” like it’s that easy

Last year I answered a cold call from a woman who boldly asserted that Dalkey Archive should reissue her book. She gave the pitch, named some names, and we tracked down secondhand copies immediately. A reissue from DA didn’t happen, but a Hagfish one did: hag.fish/maiden

Cynthia Buchanan is a riot. Irreverent and weird in the best possible ways. Go buy a copy of MAIDEN right now immediately.

I think it’s fine if you’re excited about the new Sarah J. Maas book. Everyone gets their comfort piece of brainless garbage. It’s the same reason I like Jon Fosse.

Psyched to be assisting on PR for the first-ever Hesse Press novel. Let me know if I can send you a PDF of Taylor’s “inviting and frustrating” meditation on making art in this weird, uncertain century
this is the first novel we have ever published, by @TaylorNapolsky . I am 100% crazy about this book. Everything I would say about this novel sounds hyperbolic but I mean every word. this novel changed my life. coming 1/1/27. preorder from @asterism_books asterismbooks.com/product/mo…

Maybe it would be helpful to frame discussions in terms of actual numbers. It definitely sounds dismal to say that 28% of American Men have read a novel in the past year, but that’s still 49,000,000 people. That’s like 5 NYCs, and 10 million more than the population of California
